Well, i would personally say this is a poor prediction.sumner1456Why? Their gaming division's losing money, the PS3 still isn't in the black, and they have to answer to the stockholders (Sony is publicly traded).
if the state of the worlds economy continues don't expect MS to actually want to buy them. They'll have their own problems to deal with and won't want to take on someone elses.BumFluff122Microsoft will think of the future. The econmy is bad and they will take advantage of the situation and will get the companies cheaper now than they would not in a reccession. My prediction is not that bad. PS: Fanboy? How am i a fanboy i dont own either Xbox/PS3 nor a Wii. I'm a DS lover and think all these Console are quite poor.
First Microsoft has been closing it's own first part studios... What makes you think they want to buy any more studios... especially those that were underperformed?
Second... NO.
[QUOTE="angry_fork"]False. Sony built massive 1st party teams this-gen because they realized they can't rely on 3rd parties anymore. They're going to save them for a huge Nintendo-like PS4 lineup.ShafftehrIs that a hint of "just wait for the PS4" I'm hearing? Oh man. It can't have already started. It just can't.

[QUOTE="GundamGuy0"]You sell off the bad so as to snap up the good. Yes, but the TC suggested sony would sell the underperforing studios... underperforming isn't what Microsoft is looking for now I would assume... as they are axing there own underpeformers...First Microsoft has been closing it's own first part studios... If Sony is going to sell its developers it would either be to a 3rd Party developer or someone who can afford it. If Sony does sell it to a First Party it will be Nintendo since Nintendo can actually afford them without shutting them down.First Microsoft has been closing it's own first part studios... But I doubt Sony will sell its developers since those studios are doing good not aswell as Sony expected because they thought they would be selling 120 Million Consoles again.

Nintendo would rather buy someone who they can mold into what they want than buy from Sony. RETRO STUDIOS for instance. Brought for one million.[QUOTE="GundamGuy0"]If Sony is going to sell its developers it would either be to a 3rd Party developer or someone who can afford it. You do realize, MS has more money than BOTH SONY and Nintendo COMBINED, right?

They're gladly taking the loss for Blu-Ray market penetration. 10-15 years of royalties will far outweigh the few quarters of loss from 06-10. Who knows, maybe their Playstation division will post profits next year, or the next.

I'm talking about Gaming Microsoft is shutting down First Party Studios that are underperforming and Sony would sell off their Developers Nintendo is doing good with Gaming so they aren't shutting down their Studios. Microsoft's Gaming Division is finally making up the losses from the Original Xbox which lost them around 4 Billion.[QUOTE="Nagidar"][QUOTE="Nintendo_Ownes7"]If Sony is going to sell its developers it would either be to a 3rd Party developer or someone who can afford it. SONY is a buisiness, as long as they are satisfied with the amount of money they receive, they won't care, they would sell to the highest bidder.

At worst, and this is a 1:999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 shot, they'd turn into Sega and be a multiplat game developer/publisher.

You're misunderstanding, re-read my post, I said and I quote myself: "Do you honestly think SONY would care what happens to their gaming division after its sold?"
AFTER its sold.
Wha Waaa, Sony sucks, Wha waa Sony sucks but by the way could we possibly get MS to buy your 1st party devs so we can play your games!!!
Just buy a dang ps3 already if you are worried about playing ps3 games. If you don't want to do that then stop these threads and get MS to actually pony up for some 1st party ip's instead of $50million on dlc, which by the way isn't much cheaper than what KZ2 is cost Sony and GG to make lol.
And all these Sony and ps3 is failing threads is just idiotic sorry but it is.
First it was PS3 was a bluray player only then it was the PS3 has no games, then PS3 had no good games, and now its on to Sales lol. Give it up Lemmings your excuses are running out more than ever.
MS probably isn't going to buy developers anytime soon, and especially not sony's. In fact, they're ditching 1st party devs at a fast pace right now, or letting them go. If MS would care in any way for 1st party developers, they would have never let bungie and ensemble go. Most likely they'll focus on 2nd party (or something like that) devs, getting an exclusivity contract with them, and publishing their games with MGS. So I'm not saying MS isn't going to buy anything, but it'll be exclusivity deals rather than developer companies.
They've done things like that a lot already by the way. How many games have we seen now that were first exclusive to PS3, and later multiplat? I wouldn't be surprised if MS paid some money on the side for that.

And Geez, how many here remember going into this gen that No console makes money until atleast its 3rd year on the market. The difference in this gen is that MS put a over priced, old technology, not tested console on the market and has made money even after paying out its 3 million for the RRod.
Yall laugh at Sony but in the end its MS and yourselves that you should be laughing at if supporting the business practices of MS. THEY KNEW THEY HAD FAULTY HARDWARE ISSUES AND STILL PUT IT ON THE MARKET. Go ahead and feel very proud about supporting a company like that while you laugh at a company not making money on a reliable piece of hardware that its customers can enjoy and use as technology advances into the future that it is already for.
Its a shame lemmings take jabs at a company for not handing out a unreliable console just to make money and to milk its costumers.
[QUOTE="Nagidar"][QUOTE="Teufelhuhn"]
Of course they care. For a business like Sony the economics don'' just boil down to "how much many can I make off this sale". They have to consider if there's any future profitibilty and value in an asset, and then weigh that against what they'd gain from selling. Teufelhuhn

The right choice in selling is selling to the highest bidder, do you actually think they would sell (IF they would sell) to a lower bidder? No, they wouldn't, if they're going to sell, they would have no control over it after its sold anyway, which means they wouldn't care since they were going to sell in the first place.
