The Android market is a bit overrated, tbh. Gaming on Android smartphones is still quite a bit behind the streamlined experience on iPhones. Big games on iPhone, like FF Tactics, Shantae, Scribblenauts, Ace Attorney, Infinity Blade, Chaos Rings, etc. are also easier to identify and get more attention. On top of that, App Store games often get the best deals.
I would actually take PSN/XBL over the Android market, not the App Store though.
One of the many features, that will lead to the gaming consoles demises, is the great feature of the touch UI that phones have, over handelds. Most people prefer the touch UI, over Sony's buttons.Method214
why would someone want to play a 3d animated world with a touch when they could be using sticks and buttons.
Most people prefer the touch UI, over Sony's buttons.Method214No, they really don't. That's the number one complaint when it comes to phone gaming, the lack of buttons.
[QUOTE="Method214"] The upcoming smartphones for 2012, will already be more powerful than consoles,
They're not more powerful than current gen consoles
and heck the google nexus prime is already capable of native 720p, somethings consoles cant do.
It can display at 720p, yes, but it can't play mordern games at that resolution. Just like PS3/360 can display at 1080p, but can't play all games at 1080p
The app store for iphone and the android marketplace is already miles ahead of PSN and XBL, aswell has having better DD games, lower costs, for better games, whos going to be buying a console, when the next gen nvidia kal el quad core smart phones hit the market early next year?
Better games is subjective (I'm guessing pretty much everyone here would agree that that's absolutely wrong though), and IMO the appstores don't have nearly as many quality games
(4) cores, over 1gb of ram, and a better geforce graphics card/ALU. Sony better step it up and start with their next gen phone, it was a bad move on their part to try and compete in the hand held space with just a gaming console, if they want to have any chance of being a company in the near future, they better focus more on a next gen phone, that can play sony games downloaded from their app store via DD for cheaper prices.
The gpu in phones aren't as powerful as the ones in consoles (likewise with the cpus). Sony has already released a 'next gen' phone (xperia play). And they are trying to make a robust store in the DD market for the vita.
I mean, some people will be buying games like uncharted for $40......but most will be buying better games like Infinity Blade 2 for $5 Bad move again Sony, it's like they're purposely sabotaging themselves.
Again, bad/good, that's subjective (I'm guessing pretty much everyone here would agree that that's absolutely wrong though), but a major thing phones are missing, aside from worse graphics, is buttons. It seems like you just got it out for handhelds.
Angry Birds isn't really competition, it's out on the Playstation store. So anyone could play it on their Vita if they wanted.Yeah right, when the best you have is angry birds the competition has nothing to worry about.

[QUOTE="p3anut"]There are plenty of mobile games that are open-world and have huge enviroments, like Maple Thief, Minecraft, GTA Chinatown Wars, Dungeon Hunters, Dungeon Lords etc.Who in their right mind will pick an on-rails game over Uncharted?

You need to read the original post. Infinity blade is an on rails game.
Play what you want, but i will stick with my consoles and handhelds with actual controllers instead of fumbling around, smearing my fingers all over the phone screen just trying to pull off a simple move. Touch controls might have some cool limited uses in Vita games, with capacitive front and back touch controls, but they will be well supported by standard button and analog controls too, which is why Vita WINS.
Touch Controls are rather intutive once you get used to them, I was horrible with a keyboard and mouse back when I was5 years old(:P) but once I used it for a little while I grew to love keyboard/mouse. The same is true for touch controls, they really arent that bad, and now that screens are getting bigger and bigger, smearing your fingers all over your phone screen will become smearing your fingers all over the bottom corners of your phone screen. :PPlay what you want, but i will stick with my consoles and handhelds with actual controllers instead of fumbling around, smearing my fingers all over the phone screen just trying to pull off a simple move. Dude have you seen the games on the App Store? Not even the Wii can compete with that much shovelware, and I don't care if it costs .99 cents, it's still crap! (can you use that word or do I have to censor it??Please don't ban me!!)
I don't need a quad core phone to play angrybirds.
I do need a platform to play jrpgs and action adventure games... especially with buttons.
If there's something that Sony has already proven by shooting themselves in the foot before is that high graphical power =/= good sales, if Vita's games are good the console will sell.
a BIG LOL bro, the only game i could play on my Evo 4g that i actually like is imobsters and its so simple, i tried many gameloft games and they sucked just because of the ui controlls, if i could actually play them with buttons it would be a different story.
Ahahahahahaha, no. I love my iPod Touch, and Game Dev Story is one of the greatest handheld games I have ever played, but no, just no. A touch only interface is too limited to support a full fledged complex game.charizard1605Did you see the Scribblenauts port that just showed up on iOS (http://wireless.ign.com/articles/120/1200048p1.html)? I gotta admit, iPhone/Touch really is absolutely killing it in terms of value-per-dollar when it actually does get a good game. They remixed both the original Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts together, added 10 exclusive iOS stages, improved the visuals, and refined the controls a bit.
And they released it all for $5. That's crazy! Meanwhile Nintendo asks the same price for Gameboy ports. There is something seriously wrong with one of these two pricing models -- either handheld's, or iOS's, but I find myself liking iOS's a whole lot more. Physical buttons just are not worth the kind of premium being charged on some of these games.

Kairosoft makes great games for mobile. Apart ftom them, there isn't many games that i find overly great on mobile.
