Paying to have multi-plat games look like they are exclusive to your system. Simply brilliant. Don't believe me, the COD4 and Assassin's Creed commercials* all highlight the PS3 version of the game, and casually remove the fact they are multi-plats to 360 and PC. Then announce thier new price of 400 bucks.

Well I guess when you can't do it yourself, pay someone else and act like they don't exist elsewhere!

It's called co-marketing, and it's been going on forever. Both MS and Sony front some of the advertising dollars to get their system logo clip tacked on at the end. Intel, in particular, are masters of this technique - look at any Dell ad from a few years ago. It's cheaper than doing your own marketing, and the partner vendor gets some of their ad budget paid.

Problems with your logic.

Microsoft did the exact same thing with Skate and other games. They only marketed the 360 version and on the commercial only showed the 360 controller.

yeah but this is more a knock at MS, how do you not lock up COD 4 and AC? I just find it funny that they didnt try to put thier logos in the ads, and itll pay off for sony.

EVERYONE knows Madden is multi-plat.....not so much for AC, see why this is smart?

Its called good marketing. Take a big game, and make the uninformed public think its only on your system by footing the bill for part of the ad dollars, and tacking your logo onto the end.

Seems to be a lot of it surrounding EA games on both sides though, which is slightly odd.

What sells more, Madden or Assassin's Creed? I'll bet major money Madden will top sales charts like it does every year.

How come this is new to you? M$ does this as well as SEGA and NINTENDO. This is as old as time, since back in the PSOne days.

Either way, get used to it. M$ did this for many games over the last two years, and it's smart. That's how you do it I suppose.

And then they go to the store to buy a PS3 and those games and realize, "Wow, i can already play AC on the 360" when they see that it's on the 360 as well. So they pick up the 360 version and leave.

It's marketing. Marketing is meant to do just that, market the product. Doesn't mean people don't have eyes and can't see that the titles are playable elsewhere.

Those two titles will probably still sell more on the 360 then the PS3, no matter the advertising.

It's depressing, but I'd have to agree.

Stupid people fall for buying the same game year after year with, what, new stats? Every 4 years, better graphics?

That's one of the main things i've been disappointed with when i look at gaming. People willing to shell out $60 for a game that's the same as the game they played that they bought the year before, when it has no true improvements.
