mind = blown.....
this is in my opinion a 10/10. game doesnt break the mold, doesn't stray from the formula, but it does what its been doin for years and does it perfectly... 10/10 me'thinks.

according to many that have played it, the game gets monotonous later on and has a horrible ending, so id be cautious giving it a 10/10 before you finish it!

Yea, the fist half of the game is epic, the 2nd half not so much, they blew there wad way to early if you ask me. Gow2 is still my favorite.

As did I. Note that most people who didnt like the ending actually had no idea wtf it was about
Not saying the rest of the game is bad, because its definitely an amazing game the entire way through, but the first hour of that game is done so flawlessly it would have been nearly impossible to keep that kind of action up the entire game
BPoole96
You bring up a good point. There are a few instances that feel just as epic as the begining, but the start of the game is easily one of the most outstanding openings to a game ever.
That, they set the bar too high for those opening hours that one was expecting the entire game to keep the same momentum. So much so that when i replay the game its mostly for those opening moments unless im showing a friend and they insist on seeing more. Not saying the rest of the game is bad, because its definitely an amazing game the entire way through, but the first hour of that game is done so flawlessly it would have been nearly impossible to keep that kind of action up the entire game

Same here.... the game was great and the ending was the best it could possibly be, any other ending but that wouldn't have been as good.
That is exactly the problem with it, it is the gow that we all love but it didnt take any risks at all. To me it is gow in HD, when it could have been gow next gen. That is the main complaint by many reviewers. At the end of gow2 I was foaming at mouth for the next game, Fn epic. At the end of gow3, I was wondering what the hell just happened. Kratos love for the key[I forget her name] annoyed me, this hartless ruthless killer falls for a key, and is going to put his revenge on hold to save her,a key that looks like a girl but is not? For me the story got very dumb, and I love the gow story.Great game, but was over familiar, gameplay wise in my opinion. It felt pretty dated. I havn't played through it all though, so I can't really give a final judgement.

Maybe it is just me, but I thought fighting all of the remaining Gods (excluding the last) were much better done than the opening sequence.
I thought it fell off in the middle and somewhat last part. But it was still good. Very pretty game.
This game has the most gratituous violence I've ever seen. It should have been rated AO just for the amount of useless gore and blood.
Calvin079
I felt the violence was fine for an M rated game. The only game I've played that I think would possibly deserve an AO rating for violence is Manhunt 1
What was perfect about the first hour?
It consisted of you hitting Poseidon, then him doing one of two counter attacks, and then you doing it again a few more times until it triggered a QTE. So repetitive.
If that's perfect then I'm going to have to ask if God of War 3 is the first game you ever played?

It was the way it was scripted, the way it was paced, and the way it was presented. It was very epic and very good.

It was pretty good looking, but I don't think I'd give a 10 on presentation alone. I'd probably give it a 10 FOR presentation, but that's only one of multiple factors.

I love when people water things down to make them sound as lame as possible. " *Yawn*, all you do is go around killing Gods the whole game and sometimes there's enemies and puzzles"
I don't think a game could ever get a 10 critically. there is no possible way a game could be lauded by critics as a perfect 10. If a game is made where critics are prasing it with 10s straight across the board, then the other companies may as well give up. But, GOW being a 10? No. Sure it has nice graphics and such, but too me it looks cheesy. The ending especially (I watched the gOW3 ending) was very stupid.
Kratos giving hope to the world was a fitting ending? why? It was pretty bad ass that he essentially destroys the world by killing all the gods but the ending just makes Kratos the biggest softy ever. It was even worse than the second game's ending where he is revealed to be Zeus' son. All his previous feats seem less epic. Climbing for 3 days up Chronos' back as a normal man was epic, as a demigod I kind of expect it.
Not like any game endings are any good this gen anywayGreat game, but was over familiar, gameplay wise in my opinion. It felt pretty dated. I havn't played through it all though, so I can't really give a final judgement.

Agree, was ok to play. Trying to beat it in chaos though.

I never played the games (I don't have their consoles) I just watched all the cutscenes on Youtube for GOW 1&2
You know, that's the purpose of pacing. I don't want a game with high-octane set-pieces the entire way through. --- I'm glad you like it TC (great name btw lol). I gave it a 9.5 on GS's scale :D.Not saying the rest of the game is bad, because its definitely an amazing game the entire way through, but the first hour of that game is done so flawlessly it would have been nearly impossible to keep that kind of action up the entire game

Not like any game endings are any good this gen anyway
He did it because he realized that the whole world should not have to suffer just because of his quest for revenge. He ultimately accomplished his goal by destroying Olympus and killing Zeus. Once he was finished with that, Kratos realizes that there is nothing left for him to do in life. His family is dead and his goal has been completed. The first line in the entire series is "The Gods of Olympus have abandoned me, now there is no hope." This comes to be ironic since Kratos ends up killing all of the Gods and he is the key to hope for all humanity. I liked the ending since it actually shows the mortal side of Kratos and that he actually has compassion for other people (at least once he's done killing everyone).
God damn HTML Formatting!!!!

Gow3 cant be that good if you get bored after only 1 hour...

No but when i play games i do it when i have time for it, if i only have 1 hour i rather do something else.
it doesn't even come close to Gow2, which remains the best one of the whole saga.mind = blown.....

As much as i love the GOW series I have to say GOW3 truly starts in an epic way... however was expecting a better ending (both fight/cutscene)..
Wont say anything more not to spoil it for those who havent finished the game...

He felt like he could redeem himself somehow by saving her.but he chooses revenge over her in the end anyway thats why he lets her go and attacks Zues all to find out that it was a trick in the first place.
