Ok, Im on my 3rd playthrough in GeOW2 and just now decided to bring this up, Im just going to say it. This game looks ugly, im not making fun or anything, everything just looks smudged together but either way the game is still one of best lookers out there. Im sorry but also the cutscenes are not as pretty and sharp as MGS4's either. I might get badly flamed for this but I just don't see the huge improvement in graphics.

Yea graphics king with its bland muddy looking textures in the environments. You cows need to get off of MGS4's a$$ because uncharted destroys it in the graphics department. I think Gears 2 is the current console graphics king and yes I've played uncharted, MGS4, Gears 1 and Gears 2.

Agreed. The pop in is far worse in Gears 1 than in Gears 2.

Why did you bring Metal Gear Solid 4 into it? And Gears of War is still one of the best looking console games, and Gear of War 2 looks better, so how can it be ugly?

As for the pop in, I only ever experienced it when I first boot up the game, after that it rarely happens.

Accept the facts? rofl.. you think you can truthfully say that many games look better than gears 2...you named too, and I can TRUTHFULY talk **** about Uncharted as well. Uncharted only looks great @ rendering 4 enemies on screen, and the cracks textures on rocks. Look, peoples been saying that Uncharted was graphical king for ages, but technical it sucks . The environments all look the same, its just green or brown. The special effects are unimpressive, and whats with the environment? You're in tropical paradise but the environment you play in feel so small? And whats wrong with the environment and characters, its so boring, its just generic looking enemy 1, leafs, generic looking enemy 2, more leafs, look some ruin by the water, more leafs, the end.

If you cant at least attribute this fight over graphics to individual preference for a certain style then you are really the biggest fanboy. I can say that I like fantasy styles over realism and that makes MGS4 graphics more boring looking than Gears 2? Am I wrong? No, but does my opinion say anything truthful about either games? Heck No!

Holy crap, massive failboat on TC.

Its hard to improve on a 9.6 and GOTY and multiple graphics awards at DICE 2007. Genre specific standards have risen, thats why it got a 9.0.

All i will say is, Gears 2 looks amazing..AT MOST PARTS and overall much improved. But when i first starting playing and did the training grounds i instantly thought of Gears 1, the low rez textures (more than normal) little jags on marcus's model...and the detail didn't see that improved. That all changed when you started underground in the caves. The massive envrioements and better detail was defiently noticable. I think the games got the best water i've seen.

Also people who haven't played it, yet hype the graphics need a reality check, those shots that were released are PR shots, with added AA...when played, you can noticed minor jags, etc.

Another thing, i think the game does have a lot more low rez texture this time, due to the much bigger levels.

TC Gears of War 2 is friggin beautiful, what game are you playing? I mean did you not actually take the time to look around in Act III? I will say that I still do not think its console graphics king (MY OPINION NOT FACT) because Metal Gear Solid 4 takes that prize in my eyes. I also think Uncharted is slightly more appealing to my eye, but again these days it really all comes down to opinion.

You people really need to stop arguing over the "technical merit" for your games. A game like Uncharted is different from a game like Gears of War. They may share some of the same gameplay traits, but one is taking place in a tropical setting where as the other is taking place in a dystopian society. Their both trying to convey two totally different types of looks.

I undestand waht you're trying to say. You're saying that you ahve a terrible TV that can't handle dark colours very well, because on MY tv, everything is sharp, seperated, and absolutely beautiful. Somethign tells me u havent played through it once, i mean, unless you ahve an illegal version or something...
