I disagree. Motorstorm and Resistance are great games that foreshadow a positive future of the PS3. Don't hate on systems that you haven't even played.

I wouldn't say tat...this year looks promising with a strong line-up of games like R&C:toolsofdestruction.,NinjaGS,HeS,Lair,Warhawk,MGS4,Home, and the list just goes on...besides,i rather pay 20$ to get a Ps3 instead of a 360elite...so NO! Ps3 is not a sinking ship...

Not so true. you can argue if its worth it right now. But i would say it is worth it now and its not worth it. But the advantage of the ps3, it acts as an entertainment hub, so it can keep you entertained until the other releases. Plus you can buy motorstorm, Resistance and play them only. And yes they are time consuming and since some good games will come out until summer you can get some. but however some ppl might not want it so much now because they have some games they want to buy and those games r not out. so you can argue that but it is worth it in a way and not worth it in another.

well it has better games out than the Wii does. www.gamerankings.com I think that PS3 has like 8 games over 80 % and the Wii has 4.

Wii seems to be the overall best selling console, I don't understand why but it is.

you do realize the ps3 sold so well in europe so fast is because they had enough ps3's for everyone? there for there was no wait for people. how it does in the next 9 months will tell how it really will do.

360 has gears, oblivion, burnout (all of which I own as well) which have good replayability and are great games. PS3 has resistance, oblivion, and motorstorm (all of which i also own) which are also great and have good replayability? So PS3 has matched my 360 in library and is annihalating the 360 BC library in a matter of 4 months. Since I own both I dont care, but lemmings that are simply in denial if they don't see that sony still has more AAA potential. And I must say, after halo 3 i hope halo is done because they need a new IP. I am anticipating Mass Effect, Too Human, and Halo 3 for 360. And I am anticipating Lair, Heavenly Sword, Drake's Fortune, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and MGS4 for ps3. And in terms of multiplat I am anticipating Assassin's Creed, RE4, and DMC4 which I will be able to buy the superior version of whichever it ends up being. So the ps3 library is pretty much equal to the 360 IMO at this point.

True. But the fact that they were snapped up still directly contradicts the TC's point that the PS3 is not worth it right now. It must be worth it to a lot of people if they're snapping up the units at a record pace. But I agree that the PS3 needs to show these kinds of healthy sales numbers throughout the year for Sony to regain its perch as market share leader.

Brother, I may only be in law school, but that will change come May, at which time I am a real-life lawyer (after taking the bar in July). I can afford a PS3 (I already have a 360 and a Wii), but it's just NOT WORTH IT at the moment.

$600 for a video game console==WAY too expensive.

And for all of the idiots waiving around the release numbers in Europe- of COURSE it will sell a lot in the beginning. It did in the US and Japan too. But within a month, the demand will wane, just as it did in the US and Japan.  It's just not worth it at the current pricetag, and lack of decent games (unlike the 360, which has a lot of awesome games).

Hmm...a lawyer who spends his free time playing the 360 and the Wii. Why do I not buy that? I could be wrong and you could be part of an accelerated program into law school but I don't see too many 25 year old professional school graduates (that sounds about right? 18 y.o. + 4 yrs college + 3 yrs law school = 25) playing games with their free time. Not to mention the backbreaking hours that lawyers typically have in between prepping for the bar exam, taking the bar exam, getting that first job, and working their tails off to make partner. Something doesn't compute there.....

Heavenly Sword, NInja Gaiden Sigma, Lair, Warkhawk and DMC4(bettin on the ps3 being better) and perhaps we will see Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted drake fortune it might come in the end of this year..plus there is a lot of mulitplatform games comin on the ps3 this year too..so there a lot of games for ps3 owners who dont have the 360 to play..next year we will get more exclusive games mgs4 final fantasy white knight, little big planet, new ico game, and etc..over all ps3 games is goin to dominate 2008..

Good students get into medical school and law school. Playing video games has nothing to do with it. You should listen to your own advice about the stereotypes. As a student, I can see where the TC would have time. As a law student about to prep for the bar, take the bar, and then prepare for his/her 1st job, I don't see where someone would find the time.

It is not like gamers are required to play 5 hours every day. 1 hour a day is plenty and I dont see how anyone could be too busy to give themselves and hour of fun.

True. But the med student equivalent would be attempting to study for Step 1 while fitting in an hour of gaming a day. Is it possible? Sure Is it probable? I don't think too many med students have that kind of schedule when prepping for Step 1 of the boards.

I agree, it's NOT worth it right now.

But it's not a sinking ship. It will be the best choice for me BY FAR by the end of the year.

Yeah, agreed. There are too many games I still need to play on the PS2 anyway, and when I'm done later this year imma gonna buy me a PS3.

Wouldn't want to miss out on MGSIV/GT5/FFXIII now would I?

I am actually older than 25. And other than the first year of law school, the next two years of it are a breeze, other than around final exams time (you have one exam for each class in law school, worth 100% of your grade, so you basically cram during the month before finals). I know lots of people who play Madden and Halo for hours and hours a day, and that is when we are not out drinking. Yes, this summer might be tough with bar prep, but an hour here and there is totally possible. It's not like I play more than an hour or two a day now anyway. And almost every young lawyer I know owns a PS2 or an XBOX.

PS3 certainly has the worst games on any console, but in all honesty, the games that are going to be coming out look amazing. Motorstorm and VF5 are also reason enough to buy the system also, IMO.

Ps3 is not a sinking ship...SoulKillah

How true? They both look amazing. I think that Viva Pinata, Banjo Threeie (or whatever the hell it is), and Dirt are jokes. See? I can make stupid generalizations, too! WOW!

Without a story mode. Warhawk can never be taken seriously. More like a step backwards as far as effort goes.

[QUOTE="asmallchild"][QUOTE="Dr_DudeMan"][QUOTE="asmallchild"][QUOTE="Dr_DudeMan"][QUOTE="asmallchild"]Hmm...a lawyer who spends his free time playing the 360 and the Wii.

Then you dont know many doctors and lawyers. I am in medschool and who do you think goes to medschool and lawschool, people that played games their entire life and got good grades. Don't try create stereotypes you know nothing about. PS360 ftw!

Lol...here is a secret, we have more then an hour of free time every day. We do not get where we are without time management skills.

Well obviously it's not worth $600 for what it has now. But why wait to buy one when it has a few good games now, and will be getting the great games we want later regardless? If there's plenty to keep you occupied in the mean time and no hardware problems, it's better to just buy it now to give support to the console.

Most early adopters own more then one console, which is one reason why wii is getting huge numbers. I just sold my wii and got a ps3 to compliment my 360. So, basically I am trying to say that it is too early to tell how the consoles will do in the long run with regard to the masses. And considering ps2 is still the top selling console, I would have to assume that a lot of those people are going to jump on the ps3 bandwagon when they are finally finished with their ps3. A victor wont be obvious for at the soonest a year from now, but I wouldn't claim ownage for a console for another two years.

I have a 3.8 at the 14th rated engineering school in the country, and I play video games. Its just a hobby. Everyone has free time, and if you dont I suggest finding a different profession, because there is no point in making a lot of money if you cant spend it on something.

whether its worth it or not is really a personal opinion rather than a fact. however i agree with the topic. it has some nice games like motorstorm and resistance but theres nothing there to really get my attention and make me glad to part with €630 plus the cost of the games. however i await the next game from team ico with great anticipation. if they can pull off another cracker like sotc then the PS3 will be a far more tempting platform for me. as of now though, its got nothing to justify that €630 price tag imho.

[QUOTE="accameron"]Two much money, too little good games, most all of the anticipated ones are not coming out until late 2007/2008. THe console is a sinking ship. accameron

Spoken like someone who cannot afford one and is green with envy.

These people seem to disagree with you: http://ps3.qj.net/PS3-now-the-fastest-selling-console-in-history/pg/49/aid/87990

It's just not worth it at the current pricetag, and lack of decent games (unlike the 360, which has a lot of awesome games).

you're going to be a lawyer soon and you don't even have $600? it's not that expensive for lawyersÂ
