Technically yes, I mean you could literally have 100,000 gamerscore off purely 10-point or less achivements I'm sure, but also technically no, they are the same in general, its just more obvious if someone had to try hard to get a particular trophy, though some games hand out golds pretty easily compared to others, so even then neither really properly represents skill.

No, it's just easier to see who's gotten all the trophies compared to achievements.

They dont take more skill to achieve. Like the article said, it easier to see a skiled gamer vs a not so skilled gamer through the trophy system.

I can hardly see how one takes more skill to get than the other... In the case of multiplats they're the exact same thing.

Indeed Unless he means that skill is dependent on how much you play anyway.. but yeah some trophies/achievements I'll just never be able to get, no matter how long I play.

Depends, devs are more reluctant to put crazy intense trophies like getting 1 million kills because of the platinum, but the platinum on its own is an argument that tropheis require more skill since they require you fully get every trophy for the max points you can get from the game.

What are the differences between getting all the Achievements and Trophies of Batman Arkham Asylum, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and Castlevania Lords of Shadow?

I'll tell you.

i think because most folks view san andreas as a much better game and gta4 was a letdown in comparison. It was still a great game, but for me it felt like a step backwards for the series.

I still think GTA4 was worth a 9.0 or maybe even 9.5 but 10 seems a little much.

Seeing as the achievements/trophies for each game are exactly the same, I'd say No it definitely doesn't take more skill to get either. But yeah the trophies do a better job at showing who actually completes 100% (before DLC trophies/achievements) of a game and who just gets bits of multiple games.

Overrated yeah, but definitely not a piece of crap.

The only thing that disappointed me from that game is that R* seems to be losing the humour of previous GTAs, and RDR totally reinforces that even though I think it's a better game than GTAIV.

They don't "take" any more skill, as the subject line suggests, because they are, at least usually, the same thing. But, "reflect," they might as the harder ones do have different trophies than lower ones.

Either way, I hate them both. I liked older in-game rewards system, which usually came with new skins, modes, or mutators which made the games more fun to play. Now, every dev seems perfectly content to just include the achievements/trophies.

as far as "reflecting skill" i would agree trophy does that better. But as far as completing certain trophies/achievements, they are basically the same thing in that regards.

If 360 rewards you for unlock all of the achievements of a certain game (like platinum trophies), then they are the same.

They're identical, except Trophies gives your quick summary of the different types while Gamerscore is just a single sum of all your achievements,

Getting all the achievements is not a mark of skill. It's just a mark to see who is honestly willing to tolerate more boring or poorly thought out ****. -Collecting 100 blanks -playing xxxx game on super hard mode in the new era where the games are more cheap, than rewarding from a challenge -beat the game only using x type of gun and thus making it even more repetitive -Do all the boring repetitive side quests Is the PSN leveling system probably better done? yeah...but all things considered it achievements/trophies are to this day meaningless.

I certainly lol'd. They are the exact same thing. 1000 points is a platinum trophy. You get either (in a game that isn't Avatar: The Last Airbender) and you can brag. The comparison should be between games, not platforms. Dead Rising is far more difficult to get 1000/1000 than say Mass Effect 2.

Not true, not anyone can beat certain games on the hardest difficulty. It requires patience and skill. There are alot of other achievements/trophies that require skill.

And there are a lot more trophies and achievements that are very easy to get. It mostly comes down to people who are willing to spend extra time on any given game, not having more skill than anyone else.

Sports and racing games usually have much easier achievements and trophies than RPGs do, they're attainable much faster as well. Gamers who play online also have a huge advantage over gamers who don't play online multiplayer games as well.

There are many factors to consider when looking at a posters gamercards, and judging them solely based off numbers alone is quite shallow.

This argument is hilarious to the point of sadness really we are not comparing how different systems tell you your great at a game:lol: The crazy thing is all you would have to do on live is the same thing that was implemented and improved upon on the PSN look at your friends games played and compare if you dont see 1000/1000 then that person didnt "complete" the game 100% but like champ said who really wants to slog through a game through different difficulty levels just to say i got 1000/1000 or i got platinum on x amount of games WHO CARES!!!!!

They are the same thing Easier tasks - 360 = Lower points PS3 = Bronze Trophies Medium tasks - 360 = 20-50 points PS3 - Silver trophy Harder tasks - 360 - 55-100points PS3 - Gold trophy Get all of them 360 - Varies, sometimes its avatar awards, sometimes it is points. But you always get an emblem on your account that looks like an "S" noting that you "got 'em all" lol PS3 - Platinum Trophy

On the one hand you could have a high gamescore simply by playing dozens of games and getting the easiest achievements. On the other hand you could have a bunch of platinums from easy games which aren't difficult to unlock all of the trophies. They're both essentially the same thing.

When it comes to exclusives.

Demons Soul's, SOCOM: Confrontation, etc. have time consuming or difficult trophies, meanwhile most Xbox exclusives have very easy and simple achievements. I don't blame them, it increases the sales because a lot of Xbox gamers are achievement whores. Three of my friends plan on getting Kinect because the games have achievements.

Nope, the requirements needed to unlock them are the same for both system.
