Don't know how Castlevania Judgement will turn out but soul calibur is going to be good (even with the star wars characters).

I don't see myself getting either not a big fighting game person. I have to say though I did not expect it to look so good on the Wii.

Naaah Soul Calibur looks better, but Castlevania Judgement features some pretty awesome eye candy.

It's definately Soul Calibur graphically.

I don't like the look of Castlevania: Judgment. I love Castlevania, but I hate the character redesigns. I also hate the stupid anime influences now taking their root in the series, which could explain why I don't like the look of the game. Plus a Castlevania fighter isn't a great idea, but doesn't mean it can't work if done correctly.

I like the way they've transitioned them into 3D. They're not Anime. They're Gothic Lolita.

Soul Calibur fanboyishness aside, Except the original Castlevania 64 (which was still only average at best) Castvania has never worked in 3D. And I don't really see the Wii's control system giving the depth a beat em up needs.

Still, I'll hold off judgement till I've seen it in action

Im disgusted at Castlevania, not because its ugly, but because its not supposed to be a fighting game, period. They wasted their time with this **** when they could have easily made a 2-d or 2.5-d platformer instead. Ill be getting both, but i will be getting SC4 very happily and CVJ very reluctantly.

Wow. Judgement is looking really good if those are in-game screens. I'm not sure how well a Castlevania fighting game would work but it looks pretty good.

I'll give the hand to SCIV, though. It's already an established franchise and has some great characters. :)

Clearly you don't. Gothic Lolita is a fashion, but anime is an art st*le. I did have a GF who was into the fashion and I have a photo of us together in one of her dresses...

I see. I don't like that sty1e either, although of course it has it's roots in anime. It's just not fitting at all. I don't mind the transition per se. They all have that distinct "gothic lolita" sty1e losing that darker touch the series is known for. Alucard now looks effeminate, and his outfit is not fitting the son of Dracula. Gah I'm kinda disgusted now.

From this:

To this:

I am not liking it. Then again it's not just this game, the more recent Castlevania games since Dawn of Sorrow have been focusing more on that sty1e Doesn't make them bad games though, just makes the games lose that sort of atmosphere I guess.

Don't forget Aria of Sorrow. As much as I absolutely loved that game, it's what started the whole anime look in Castlevania games :x

It was certainly leaning that way. I think Dawn of Sorrow really pushed it there though. I mean:

It still looks relatively darker and more...traditional Castlevania.

As opposed to the look of Dawn of Sorrow. Yuck.

It was never that bad till THIS game. The eyes were normal sized, the characters were still dark, and the personality of the game still stood. This game takes that, and pisses all over it. Look at those freakin eyes man, thats what bugs me most. I just can't see it in the same way, having the same mood. They are probably trying to appeal to a wider audience, but I think this is more like suicide. Fans are what keep castlevania alive, lets fact it, it wouldn't go off the market 2 weeks after it was released if the fanbase was EA sports sized. (And yeah, they do that to nearly every new castlevania games, you see it there one day, then the next its gone.)

Alucard is Dracula's son, hence why his name is dracula backwards. They weren't very creative I guess.

Dracula was real, also known as Vlad the Impaler. A gruesome man.

(those people are still alive. this is what he actually did)

Alucard however is not.

That's what I'm saying from the second screen. The first screen it's pretty obvious I thought. Certain facial features stand out more as male features I guess. Plus his hair was never actually silver/gray to begin with. It was bleach-yellow blonde. He's supposed to be based in the 17th-18th centuries but he's immortal so he makes an appearance in the more modern Castlevania games like Dawn of Sorrow.

It looks horrible in my opinion. Hopefully it's not too close to being finished, so they can touch up the artwork a bit.

Alucard's real name is Alexander Grande Tepes III or something like that. Alucard was his nickname since he stands for the exact opposite of what his father stands for.

Yeah I saw the first screen and it was totally a guy, a retarded gorilla with one eye can see that, but the screens from Judgement make him look like a chick. And is it just me, or does the silvery hair and new outfit make him look a little like Sephiroth?

 That's what I thought too. It's the hair and blue trench-coat thing. I guess it's trying to appeal to Sephiroth's legions of fanboys/fangirls. Who knows what the devs were thinking (smoking?) when they came up with that character design.

Yeah, I know about the tepes thing, and I know about Vlad, I was just saying that so people would go "aaah", most people don't realise its dracula backwards.

Also the shoulder plates made me recognise the similarities. They should've kept him the way he looked in previous games. He looks bad ass there, but now its like, he's trying too hard or something.

It took me a bit to realize that too. :P

I know a bit about Vlad Tepes and him being the real Dracula as well. He did have a son, although I guess you can't really call him Alucard. I find the whole legend thing a bit off as well, seeing as it was propaganda that brought him into the being as the dracula we know today.

[QUOTE="Saturos3091"][QUOTE="freek666"]Yeah I saw the first screen and it was totally a guy, a retarded gorilla with one eye can see that, but the screens from Judgement make him look like a chick. And is it just me, or does the silvery hair and new outfit make him look a little like Sephiroth?freek666

 That's what I thought too. It's the hair and blue trench-coat thing. I guess it's trying to appeal to Sephiroth's legions of fanboys/fangirls. Who knows what the devs were thinking (smoking?) when they came up with that character design.

Also the shoulder plates made me recognise the similarities. They should've kept him the way he looked in previous games. He looks bad ass there, but now its like, he's trying too hard or something.

Yeah, that's the way it seems. It's not even just him. Other characters look way different as well. I can understand some minor updates to make up for the generation differences (some of these older games came out like, 20 years ago) but they've overhauled characters like Alucard and Simon and it just doesn't look good.

SC4.

I'd never get a fighting game with only 3 characters like that Castlevania game.

SC4.

That horrible looking game on the Wii is not a Castlevania game. Because it doesn't look like one at all.

As a castlevania fan, this game won't exsist along with the Castlevania 64 abominations.

Castlevania 64 can't really be compared to Judgement though. Totally different hardware.

If Castlevania Judgement is online then I'll get it. No doubt about Soul Calibur 4...getting that day 1.

both games are looking good... actually am quite impressed by Castlevania visually....

As for fighting games, the only games am interested in are SFIV & Tekken 6...... also Naruto (PS3) but not sure if it falls under the beat-em-up/fighting cathegory...

soul calibur obviously looks better (character detail, lighting etc) but castlevania looks decent for a wii game
