It's an MMO, so take it what you will.
Warframe has the ugliest art direction and environment of any non mobile game. Whatever they're doing at that studio, i don't know how people stand it.
Looking forward to it. Warframe is arguably one of the best examples of the free-to-play model, with a long-running game that is well supported and has a devoted, albeit somewhat small, fanbase.
Some of the best parkour-meets-ranged-meets-melee combat I've ever played, though. I mean it's like Vanquish levels of good sometimes.
I hope Soulframe, if worthy, manages to get a larger playerbase and is even more successful.

I won't say it's ugly, but it's very...artsy.
I don't like it, the overall aesthetic. But things like that might matter more to me than others who care more for just the fundamentals of a game.
It's not ugly, though.
Warframe does have style, though, I'll give them that much. I just wish everything didn't look like some gaudy French fashion show and everyone was walking the catwalk or something.
@mrbojangles25: The only way to describe their "art" is: WTF AM I LOOKING AT? And when it comes to the environment, literally everything looks like some randomly generated level that all look barebones and the same. Their combat system is also insanely floaty to the point that even Bethesda is a bit jelly. Warframe is one of the most abysmal titles that i never understand why anybody would waste more than an hour in.

I think you are confusing "acquired taste" with "bad", but whatever, you're entitled to your opinion 😉

Its not an acquired taste lol this looks like a mess. I would never ever ever want my character in any video games to look even remotely close to this. All these wavey materials on everything is mega fugly to me. So damn incredibly ugly.
Eh. Potentially interesting take on a fantasy MMO, which Steve left Rebecca in charge of Warframe to go make, so it's bound to be experimental. Don't think I'll be playing it, though. Not really an MMO person.
Bad example. Yareli was an ascended fan concept.
Aesthetics is YMMV, so I don't really care enough to argue it. Just saying, DE didn't design her. Try again.
@hardwenzen: Looks great actually.
Weren't you excited for Redfall? Your "looks great" has no meaning anymore, bro.
@madrocketeer: There's nothing to try. I could post a random video, and everything, from character design, animation and environment, it looks spectacularly ugly. THE worst art direction of any AA/AAA games i've seen.
@hardwenzen:
Then post something else. Again, Yareli was an ascended fan concept. If you're going to criticise DE's art direction, the least you can do is base it on something they actually designed.
@hardwenzen: Never said Redfall looked great but until then it was a developer that never did anything less than great, I had reasons to trust whatever their vision was.
Still, completely unrelated with the character art from the Warframe developers, which is good and quite unique.

Unique certainly, good? we'll agree to disagree on that one.
Daily reminder that Warframe has the worst art direction of any non mobile video games released in the last 35 years.
The combat system in soulframe looks weird. You do these overly exaggerated movements with your sword, but when you hit something, there is zero sense of impact or weight. I can't stand this shit in games. Its so amateur. If you can't make a melee combat system feel AND look crunchy, don't even bother including it in your game.
@hardwenzen: You know what has crunchy combat? AC6. It feels crunchier than MechWarrior 5.
I ain't worried about it having the "feels good" stamp of approval. Fromsoft gets it.
@sonny2dap: You might not like it but what makes it bad?
For my money, in order for jagged mechanical and curved organic forms to work together requires a fair amount of blending and a careful balance, warframe they often seemed layered on top of each other haphazardly, they also often texture things that by design look mechanical with an organic texture which I find off putting, there's also this weird juxtaposition of arms/hands/legs/feet which seem functional and designed with actual use in mind vs the rest of the models which to my eyes are just very weird geometry blends with little overriding design language, 100% I acknowledge other people may enjoy this style but in my eyes it's just not good art design.
As someone who's played Warframe on and off since its beta days, man DE really needs to get out of their comfort zone in style of gameplay. Soulframe, Warframe and Wayfinder all play exactly the same in gameplay and a live service "mmo". I really want them to make another Dark Sector game or just remaster the first one. I know Warframe 1999 is a callback to Dark Sector but damn
Fun fact "Into the Void" by Nine Inch Nails, the song in the trailer was released in 1999
another female trailer. does men exist in video games anymore? lol
woman after woman after woman.
the only time it is a man if they already existed spiderman,cratos and more.
no new male characters lately.
am I the only one who sees this?
I love women, but that's just me. It's of course OK that you love men, but I think some diversity is nice.

Yeah, I said I get it. You like men more. It's ok dude. I enjoy seeing more females, personally.
