What is the point in all of these ports to the WiiU considering these games will of been out for a year or so by the time they release.xxmatt125xxSo people who don't them on other systems can still play them?

I'm sure going to only get it on WiiU if released. I can't play Sonic on Playstation. Xbox maybe because it's just a Dreamcast clone but never on anything Playstation.
Still hoping that a PC version is true.

Hoping for this as well.

I'm curious as to why they wouldn't release it on the Wii. Not so say a WiiU release is bad, but I figured since there is already an established Sonic fanbase on the Wii, I would assume they would continue to capitalize on that.

The Wii isn't powerful enough to run the Hedgehog Engine. Iizuka and Sonic Team wanted the game to be HD. Dimps is handling the Nintendo side of things with the 3DS version of Sonic Generations. The primary goal for the console versions of Generations was re-imagining the series' classic zones in vivid, high-definition graphics. The Wii hardware wasn't a good fit for that concept, so we abandoned development on that, and decided that for our Nintendo audience, we would make a fresh start with a N3DS version of Generations./Takashi Iizuka

I see. A WiiU version seems more likely then.
While this thread's here: Brand new Modern Green Hill speedrun. It's great to see a competent player.MobilechicaneX
That was just....beautiful.
That was just....beautiful.Valiant_RebelIt sure was. :D It's awesome how it can load such massive stages at very high speeds. Just another great trait of the Hedgehog Engine. I guess you can see why a Wii version isn't really possible. :P

Sonic games tend to sell better on Nintendo consoles ever since Sega stopped making consoles. Chances are the Wii U version would sell decently even if it came months after the 360 and PS3 versions, because there would be a number of Wii U owners that didn't own a 360 or PS3.
