Spanish Retailer leaks Scorpio price? Rumor!

As spotted by Twitter user DesiXBL, the Spanish website XtraLife has listed Project Scorpio for €399.99, meaning that if the listing is accurate, the console would likely cost $399.99 stateside. However, it’s worth noting that online retailers often use placeholder prices for unreleased products, so until Microsoft makes an official announcement, take any news on Project Scorpio’s pricing with a massive grain of salt.

The price is interesting because xbox one was 500 Euros when i bought it at launch. Strange they have a lower placeholder price!

Anyone with half a brain knows that's a placeholder price. Why exactly would Microsoft release any pricing data to anyone, especially some Spanish website first?

Its obviously going to be $399.99 for a 1TB SKU.

I said it was rumor, not official. It's interesting because it an official retailer its not fake. And they have the Scorpio price at 399 Euros. Placeholder prices tend to be higher. The believe is Scorpio would be higher 500 Euros to 600.

Maybe the retailer was given information by Microsoft? Maybe they learned from their sources what the price would be? Microsoft is going announce the price about 6 to 7 weeks time. Finding out about the price in April is not beyond the realms of possibility

Looks like the Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4 are in deep trouble. I expect this system to win Microsoft the war. Makes me feel proud to be Xbox supporter and almost have a tear in my eye. Nothing is more beautiful than seeing the brand you invest in succeed.

Its either be 399 , 450 or 500. Not going to be higher than this. Here is why, 399 dollars would not be a surprise.

The CPU is a jaguar. It a CPU they bought 3 years ago and got for the xbox one.

The 6tflop GPU is similar to RX480 a 200 dollar GPU.

Microsoft would not be paying the same price as we do.

Microsoft R&D department customized and modified the Jaguar CPU and the GPU for Scorpio.

CPU 20 to 50 dollars at most Microsoft paid AMD

GPU 150 to 180 dollars at most Microsoft paid AMD.

So they would be left with 180 to 200 dollars to work with. It's possible the 399 dollar price was reached internally.

The vapor cooling and 4K 60fps dvr capturing card recording price point is the unknown factor. We know Microsoft took a hit with 4K Bluray with slim so they do that again with the Scorpio.

He could be waiting for the drop the mic moment at E3. Announcing the price at E3 would have a bigger impact.

Xbox one S will be 250 by Holidays. 150 more to buy Scorpio is a premium product.

I not ruling out 500 dollars, but if came in at 399 i would be surprised. I felt it would be 399 dollar if the CPU was jaguar before the announcement by Digital foundry . Then we got news of it using vapor cooling and has 4K 60FPS capture recording that changed my mind.

Now i think MS will take the hit and maybe go for 399? Hopefully!

$399 is completely realistic at this point, I expect slightly higher but I wouldn't be shocked if it actually were released at that price.

Most likely a place holder, MS will not have given retailers a price point yet.

I'm setting my expectations at $499 but if this price turns out to be true then that will be awesome.

$399 mic drop at E3.. that's what i'm calling it at this point..

there's no way Phil Spencer gets out on stage and says "$499" for an Xbox console again when the PlayStation counterpart is "$399".. Microsoft wants to erase the memories of that infamous E3, not rehash them..

If the price of Scorpio is more than $399, the price wont be announced at E3.. it'll be some quiet press release about a month or so out from the console release date.. i'll still pick one up at $499 as an Xbox fan and tech enthusiast but that $100 difference between it and the PS4 Pro is poised to overshadow any good news they plan to announce at E3.. I think they already see the gaming media's narrative shifting from "power" to "exclusives".. they definitely don't want to add a "price gap" to the conversation too..

anyway, that's my prediction.. it's gonna be an interesting E3 to say the least..

I honestly expect that announcement.. a $200 difference in price between the S and Scorpio is surely enough to show that one is "mass market" and the other is "premium" while making both consoles the go-to choice for 4KTV owners as adoption begins to ramp up..

Would you purchase one at $400? It's still very expensive without any games that we know of...

It's still going to end up being $600+ (with fees and royalties) for a system that is simply an upgrade of a $200 Xbox One (or $400+).

I guess if you have a 4k TV and really dislike PC gaming and really dislike exclusives and have friends who keep buying Xboxes despite you telling them not to. Or if you're new to gaming and want to test the waters... I could see that case being made. (Though a PS4 Pro would likely still be a better alternative?)

Yeah, I'd say this is just a placeholder for now. We should wait on MS (or an actual leak) to get an idea of what we're getting.

I personally have some doubts about the 399$/€ mark BUT if they do get it, that's the sweespot (IMO) for a powerful new console.

You would expect placeholder prices to be in the ball park, these are retailers that are more in the know than us.

But like the thread says its only a rumor, but I think there will be a sku at $399 but the better version that most people will get/want will be more.

Barring any great announcements at E3. The only "exclusive" games I'm looking forward to this year are Crackdown 3, and Mario Odessey, and I have my doubts for both those titles. Nothing else "exclusive" appeals to me right now. Maybe I'll get lucky and Sony will announce a SOCOM/MAG type game. I e kinda lost all hope for a Twisted Metal or Twisted Metal Black sequel.

However TC while defending your position on this price point I'd stick with MS willing to take a loss (if there is one) instead of saying it's because they cheaped out on the CPU with leftovers from unsold Xbox ones ;).
