It's for the best since the Spider-Man movies were going the way the old Batman and Superman movies did before their reboots.

What?! Spider-Man 4 has been cancelled? That's really dissapointing.

The game could have been decent, Spider-Man 2 was excellent although Spider-Man 3 was terrible.

The ability to relate to spiderman's humanity

Was one of the attractive aspects of his character. Although, he possessed a super human persona, the other side of him was your everyday high school teenager that dealt with "real" everyday problems. Sony hopes to re-capture that trait on screen by focusing on those same meaningless, cliched teenager conflicts.

SO expect Spiderman 1, only they will continue in High school. My only gripe is the direction tooken away from the comic books.

I definitely hate the idea of a Spiderman reboot at this point. Spiderman 4 had so many promising ideas, like Bruce Campbell as Mysterio. I also loved the first 2 (though the 3rd was meh).

Of course this could be a good thing, superhero movies seem to follow a set of rules one of which is that the 4th movie tends to suck terribly (Batman and Robin, Superman IV) and this tends to happen after the 3rd jumps the shark (Blade Trinity, X men: The Last Stand, Batman Forever, Superman 3 and... I don't need to say it). Plus, reboots tend to be much more popular than the previous films (Batman Begins, The Incredible Hulk, Superman Returns- rebooted before the 3rd film, after the 2nd). Plus I hated how much the movies were changing from the comics, with Gwen Stacy being nothing more than some plot point between MJ and Peter. I'll miss the old cast, but this could be good.
