Spiderman, Yakuza 7, Maneater, Dirt 5 PS5 upgrade wont support cross save.

How is this happening? Apparently when you upgrade some eligible games to the next gen PS5 versions, saves and even trophy wont transfer.

Welp Sony and 3rd party, what are you doing. On xbox the saves will be cross compatible when you upgrade to the Xbox Series X versions. The reason given was that on Xbox the games is running on the same application but its not the same case as the PS5. I mean sure, the PS5 ver might run upgraded games differently but its not like those games cannot read the PS4 save file.

Been saying it for a while, Sony engineers are clueless. It ain't random that their main focus for their next generation console was a storage device 😭 Its also not random that it took them 15 years to allow us to change the psn gamertag.

I honestly am not affected by this, however, it is something Sony should fix. There should be a way to convert a PS4 save to PS5 or to read it from within the game.

It's more like Sony is slowly becoming Nintendo. In case anyone forgets, especially Nintendo fans, you can't transfer your Zelda save from Wii U to Switch either. No Crossbuy with Wii U version as well.

This also includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and whatever else Nintendo lazy ports from its previous gen.

I would just like to emphasize that cloud saves are free on the Xbox and generation independent. 😎

It also took Sony almost a generation to expand cloud storage limit to 100gb for PS+ users so I won't hold my breath lol. Crazy how late the change was made cause some Sony 1st party games like Tearaway unfolded can reach massive sizes. Come on Sony be alert on these stuff.

...well if there is one good thing is if its an easy Platinum it might be worth it for Platinum chasers. Bad news though Yakuza usually is not an easy game to Platinum. Those damn Mahjong minigames suck.

Its pretty dumb as well. I am not sure how PS3/PS4&PSV can cross save, cross buy and cross platform some games, even 3rd party games uses those features but the PS5 cannot do cross save on its upgraded games.

@sakaixx: exactly - and I have a hard time believing this would be particularly costly or complicated for them to implement - especially the trophy system, where there's really no question of the program itself lacking compatibility with, e.g., a save

History has shown the more money you give these companies the less consumer friendly they get :(

I had no idea Sony could be this lazy and not taking advantage of cross-save files and not supporting free upgrade too. Next-gen PS5 doesn't scream excitement for me that is. Will I get a PS5 down the road, I know I will but I'm in no rush lol.

@xantufrog: Sony actually very lenient on Trophy stacking. You could have multiple Platinum of the same game that even if that game is on one system even if its crossbuy. There is this infamous game called Sound Scapes that lets you gets 6 Platinum using 1 account and, if you transfer save files from PS3 to PS4 or PSV, you will automatically unlock the Trophy of that version.

If I recall Salt & Sanctuary trophy was separate as well even though its a crossbuy game. FFX trophy is shared between PS3 and Vita but its not a crossbuy game.

It was a smart move of Microsoft to brand their upgrade strategy, with "Smart Delivery" to even further draw contrast between theirs and PlayStation.

Imagine playing a game for say 30hrs, unlocking a load of stuff and all of a sudden your save file disappears and you have to start the game all over again, now that would suck right?

Well when you move your game from the PS4 to the PS5 your save file basically disappears :(

Witcher 3 is getting free next gen upgrades and I have a 50 hours file, stuck at very boring Skellige Islands and boatloads of cash that I grinded, that now idk if its possible to return to that point if I upgrade the game on PS5.

Anyhow if you play RE7 on PSNow and you bought the game aswell on PS4, you can transfer save between PS4 and PSNow. There is a catch you do need PS+ for cloud save transfer.

So your'e encouraged to buy the PS4 version of games with the promise of PS5 upgrade being available after launch. But then later they tell you it will cost you for the upgrade and any saves won't carry over.

so one game = cost for all upgrades. hzd2 and sackboy are free updated games. spiderman is the only one you need to pay for that and it is 20 bucks. ow no sony are so bad they are charging for one game.

you know why cross save does not work? because ps4 games use zlib compression

ps5 games use krakken. you can't load a game that is in another format.

but you guys don't think. you guys don't look for the reasons why and just hate.

xbox is using the same compression for both gens.

I rather have the 5.5 through put on the ps5 by using kraken than to have my ps4 game save transfer over.

My guess is that there are none and they just want you to play the game over again for whatever reason.
