I say Bemo as it's a cross between a demo and a beta and wanted to coin the term 'Bemo'!
It's to test stress the gubbins.

yay Splatoon 1.5
Well the Switch is a WiiU 1.5 so this was kind of to be expected. Will still be fantastic though of course!
Will Nintendo allow players to actually communicate (w/o emotes) with fellow players this time around?
Will they allow custom loadouts, all maps in the rotation, and the ability to pick which game mode you want to play at any given time?
Second thing I thought of was whether or not that asinine revolving playlist would be back or is Nintendo ready to step into the league of actual caliber shooters.
yay Splatoon 1.5
What does the game need to have to be considered a full 2.0 version? PS4 levels graphics?
This must be exciting. The ability to play the near identical game for $300 is a thrill.
... assuming people only buy a Switch to play Splatoon 2.
@aigis: It has new mechanics, new levels, new streaks, new weapons...
What you talking about?! The Roll in human form is new, The Gym level which I posted news on is new, dual wielding is new, Hover streak with dropping balloons is new.
I'm guessing you are hating as you saw the Switch reveal and just jumped to conclusion if "portttt, 1.5... No new games "
@dobzilian: maybe I missed it, what new mechanics? Pls dont say splat dualies
Edit: and you said splat dualies...
Edit2:

I dont hate the switch and I own a wii u with Splatoon... I just hate Splatoon
@aigis: The Dodge / Roll movement which been implemented
@aigis: Its got the new dodge mechanic.
thats literally only for splat dualies..... Thats not a mechanic
@aigis: Plus will have new Story Mode.
If its as in depth as 1's "story mode" its going to be nothing special again
@aigis: It's a new weapons, there's supposedly more new weapons coming. The Dodge / Roll movement which been implemented
Isnt that just a mechanic for a specific weapon though?
When he said new mechanics I am pretty sure he meant new mechanics, not just new weapons with certain abilities. From what I have seen, this is a pretty conservative sequel, which is a shame, because the original Splatoon took quite the risk.

I was just about to write something sarcastic and witty about what I first thought was bad typo on the thread title, I'll save my sarcasm for another time.
I love how some of you are now getting high n mighty about Splatoon 2 being a sequel, when you'd be the first mother fuckers in line apologizing for some rehash to your beloved series. Fucking dweebs.
On topic: Won't really be playing. Won't be buying a Switch, and I don't plan on paying Nintendo to pay for online. So as good as the first game was, the sequel has been made irrelevant to me.
@m_machine024: new mechanics?
Hmm the biggest changes so far are the roll dogde and new specials. There are also some little tweaks like rifles can now hold and reserve their charges for a limited time.
If that's not enough for you than fair enough..... but let's remember that Splatoon is a shooter. Uncharted games all play pretty much the same, for example. Many COD lay the same. Killzone 2 to 3. Do you call the sequels .5 versions as well? There isn't much new mechanics that can be added on a shooter.
What's to watch out for the new online/offline multiplayer features and new modes (and maybe the new single player I guess). If there isn't much change in those then I'll agree with you. We'll see eventually.

Its a weapon that adds a new mechanic to the game. They arent gonna reinvent the wheel in such a short period. Nobody wants that.

I dont play Killzone so I cant comment there, Uncharted's main draw is the campaign so it doesnt need to reinvet the wheel each time because it can focus on new stories and set pieces (even though we do get new mechanics usually eg: grappling hook in 4 or stealth mechanics in 2), COD is the closest to splatoon in terms of gameplay (shallow sp, main draw mp) and those are .5 leaps. You are lucky if they add something new thats not just a stage, weapon, or aesthetic

If you also consider COD .5 sequels then ok. I'll let you off the hook, this time. :P Can't really think of anything to add gameplay wise tho. Splatoon is already very unique.
They will add new stuff beside those. The question is how much new stuff...
@jg4xchamp: am I mistaken?
Yeah sure, why would it be any less shallow than fucking Uncharted (the series has had 2 games worth praising, and even then it's more hall of good than fame), which by the nature of its fucking mechanics has basically been shallow. Even the 4th game with its more improved combat encounters, still has a ridiculous amount of hours spent doing mindless climbing, so naughty dog can tell you "look at that view". That's cute, if you're easily fooled by flashy shit, but those of us wanting some substance in their game, it highlights that naughy dog offers a lot of empty experiences.
I'll agree that Splatoon's campaign isn't anything to write home about, if only because Nintendo has a richer history in terms of platformers. But I'd say the single player is hardly anymore an after thought as a playing experience, and certainly has more going on than Uncharted in that department. The obstacle courses naturally lend themselves to mixing it up nicely with how Splatoon's shoot n swim mechanics work, and the games diverse group of bosses aren't exactly after thoughts. They are easy, and I think the final boss is more overhyped because he sticks out in relation to the other bosses in the game, but as a pure play experience the campaign is plenty solid, and certainly class or two better than most shooters that are carried by their mp.
@jg4xchamp: Opinion on Uncharted aside, cod has a better campaign than splatoon. Its literally a challenge mode with no challenge, its a glorified tutorial which I would have respected far more if mechanics from it were actually used in the mp from the start if at all (I think there is maybe one map out of all of them that used a fan?)
Splatoon is a joke of a game.
Splatoon was great. And for as conservative this game seems to be. It should at the very least be a very solid game. The first splatoon was great, and maybe it is for the best, that they dont change too much. Some of the suggestions I saw in this thread were terrible. Fully customizable loadouts? No Thank You.
The fact that it continued to sell for a long time is a testament to how well made that game was. I greatly enjoyed it over shit like Uncharted, with banal, weaksauce shooting mechanics and filled with pointless climbing. Insultingly handholdy puzzles, and a story that can only be considered good if you have rock bottom standards.
