on the wiiU of course....
mario kart 8 seems to have sold a tiny bit better in the same time frame...
just 60k more to beat smash..
mario kart 8 is about 500k away...
will splatoon do it?

@Ant_17: Splatoon has a great single player mode, also has extra single player content thru Splatoon Amiibos.
@Ant_17: They might do a more focused single player in the future and just rehash the old maps and modes a bunch, i could see it happening.
Is SB bigger in the West than the East?
I hope Mario Maker does well.
That game entices me quite a bit.
@KBFloYd: @mesome713:No , i mean more focused SP mode.
Maybe a platformer style of gameplay.
Not SP bot mode.
well smash bros added melee with adventure mode and then space emissary in brawl....
its possible to change splatoons single player to a different style.
@mr_huggles_dog: Its about the same, i dont know West numbers, but Smash Wii U has sold about 700k vs about 2.3 million on 3DS in Japan.

Have to correct myself, the 3DS numbers in North America vs Japan are about the same, but on Wii U North America has bought more then double.
@mesome713: interesting.....I would think SB would sell more in Japan while something like Splatoon would sell more in NA.
I wonder what are the factors that keep Splatoon selling well in Japan. It could be the "moe" factor.
@Basinboy: Smash on Wii U has sold 668k though in Japan, so its not far. With the numbers how they are, Splatoon might can overtake it before the year is up if it continues.
@Basinboy: Yeah, forgive me, i misunderstood your post at first, but didnt want to delete it, so i just added the other sentence to try and fix a little.
There's a good chance of topping Smash. But it's gonna need a holiday unlike any other to catch MK8. TC doesn't point out that Splatoon has sold 600k total, which means it would have to double its sales in Q4 to get there.
im not saying it has to overtake mario kart 8 this year...i mean will it eventually do it? by this time in mk8 life it was selling 8k or 4k a week...where as splatoon is still selling 20k a week.

No worries.

Splatoon's showing to have some legs at retail but it would be a barn-burner of a holiday to catch MK8. I also wonder how the game's player count is doing in its online modes. Am interested to know if players are sticking with it.
I'm happy to see a new IP doing this well.
It's the first one that has really appealed to consumers in a long time. If the Wii U was a better console, or if PvZ Garden Warfare didn't exist, then I would've bought a Wii U because of Splatoon.
Good.
Maybe the next Splatoon will have a SP mode.
It has one. What do you want, bots?
The dynamism and three-dimensional nature of the gameplay would make for an incredibly difficult to program AI.
