AAA! Must be hard for her to be in the limelight after THAT comic. (which was probably the truth BTW) :PJade Raymond

Why is there so much hate on Conviction? The game was an evolutionary step forward not only for the series but for stealth games as well.
The game is faster paced, yes, but that doesn't mean it's any less stealthy than previous entries in the series. It was a nice step forward to a stagnating formula. Splinter Cell through Splinter Cell Double Agent all had essentially the same basic gameplay.
Why would you want to play the same game over and over again? If you want that then go play the Call of Duty franchise; they've been rehashing the same game since 2007.
[QUOTE="VoodooHak"]Double Agent may have been disappointing, but did you play Chaos Theory? That game was ****ing amazing.I really liked Conviction. A sequel with Conviction's mechanics is fine by me. It's was a reboot that the series really needed.

I've played all of them with Chaos Theory being my favorite. In fact, I still have all of my original copies. Heck I got to meet the devs for Pandora Tomorrow and got to play the revolutionary multiplayer before it went retail. But Conviction doesn't follow very far behind.
Chaos Theory was excellent for its time, but at this point, the gameplay really needed to evolve. The same trial and error mechanics were really bogging down the series after 3 games that were dinged by critics and fans because of it.
I applaud Ubisoft's desire to take some risks with the game in favor of a more personalized story with gameplay that really fit the narrative. Is Conviction perfect? No. Of corse not. But it's excellent for what it did and really begs for a sequel.
...Did you play the same Splinter Cells last gen I did? It doesn't sound like it.Why is there so much hate on Conviction? The game was an evolutionary step forward not only for the series but for stealth games as well.

Why are you questioning my credibility as Splinter Cell fan? I've been playing them since day one and anyone who has been doing the same can see that the series needed a change. Either that or they're in denial.
It's not to say that I don't enjoy the earlier games; like many others Chaos Theory was probably my favorite and Pandora Tomorrow's multiplayer was insane for its time. Hell, my favorite Splinter Cell mission ever isThe Kola Cell from the first Splinter Cell add-on pack.

Wait, so anyone who doesn't share your views that the franchise desperately needed a reboot is either a newbie to the franchise or is in "denial"? Yeah, I think I'm done here.[QUOTE="AcidSoldner"][QUOTE="Verge_6"] ...Did you play the same Splinter Cells last gen I did? It doesn't sound like it.Verge_6

Wait, so anyone who doesn't share your views that the franchise desperately needed a reboot is either a newbie to the franchise or is in "denial"? Yeah, I think I'm done here.Yeah pretty much. Why does that bother you? Why is it that the so called 'die hards' of a particular series are always to quick to attack any sort of evolutionary change to the gameplay formula? Again, that's not saying the older games where bad it's just got a bit stale.
I think another great example of this is the Halo series and Reach. Many of the 'die hards' bashed Reach for it's gameplay in comparision to older titles; it was too different and 'not true to the series.'
If you're really stuck on a particular game's style and gameplay then by all means go ahead and play that game (I play Splinter Cell 1 a couple of times a year) but don't deny a series its progression and evolution for the sake of nostalgia. We already have too many rehashes and copy-cat games this generation (see COD and modern warfare FPSs), we don't need anymore.
Agreed. I love SC and Conviction was a blast for me.I really liked Conviction. A sequel with Conviction's mechanics is fine by me. It's was a reboot that the series really needed.

No matter how much I enjoy Splinter Cell games, or enjoyed for that matter, I'm thinking that the next game is most likely going to be action-oriented given the trend Adversary16
Action isn't bad as long as it fits the story and is balanced with the stealth. Great examples in Conviction are Kobin's mansion, Price Airfield, White Box, and the Third Echelon garage. I'll even throw in Lincoln Memorial. For the most part, the levels ramped up from stealth in the beginning and action near the end. In my eyes, that really helped the pacing and provided a great climax to each level.
I'd like to seem them keep the mark and execute mechanic. I thought that was excellent. What they need to fix is the ability to spam the window ledge attacks.

Your inability to respect other people's viewpoints and misinterpretation of my 'nostalgia' continues to baffle me.[QUOTE="AcidSoldner"][QUOTE="Verge_6"] Wait, so anyone who doesn't share your views that the franchise desperately needed a reboot is either a newbie to the franchise or is in "denial"? I respect your opinion and the fact you enjoy the particular gameplay style of the older Splinter Cells; I do too for the 3rd time! What baffles me is your inability to accept the series' gameplay evolution as a good thing.

So liking the old SC games = ok.
Not liking the new SC games = idiotic.
Is that what I'm reading here?
With the way the series is heading, I'm not going to bother. SC is one of those series that is trying to change itself too much and is gets worse with each one. The series has fallen so much since Chaos Theory.
I know this is kind of off-topic, but Jade Raymond does absolutely nothing for me. When all the hubbub about here when the first Assassin's Creed came out I just couldn't see it, and I still can't. Not good looking at all :P
not only is she hot, but a competent game designer! a paradox indeed. although I'm not fond of AC, i have to respect the work and dedication put into the franchise.Jade Raymond

Chaos Theory hardly had any trial and error ....jg4xchampI currently on my first playthrough as we speak and I'd say it does :P What interests me though is the fact I've probably shot at one person and I'm half way though I think. I'm not trying to play it like that but stealth grabs always seem the best thing to do.
