Just Cause 2 is hours of mindless stunts and fun in a huge open world area bigger than GTA IV's. If your borther is a casual fan of SC then get him that, if he is a stunt junky get him JC, SC is a big disappointment to the hardcore fans everywhere so choose wisely.
Just Cause 2 is a very clunky game (terrible controls) plus if you want a good sand-box game get either Saints Row 2 or GTA4 (Red Dead Redemeption is also coming out). Conviction will be a good choice if you are into coop because it never gets old (4 different coop modes).
theres gonna be so much more replay value with a free roam sandbox game. but splinter cell does have co-op but how many times can you do the 2 maps they have before it gets boring
just cause 2 ftw
if you have friends that have SC get that because the coop is fantastic. but if you just want to play with yourself go with JC2. there is a demo of both though so thats where id start

2 maps? plz don't talk if you have no idea what you are saying. It has atleast 6-7 maps for each gametype.

Just Cause 2 doesn't have clunky controls. It's super easy to control. In terms of pure "sandbox" action and freedom, JC2 is up there with any sandbox game, and certainly has a loooooooot more over-the-top action than GTAIV.Just Cause 2 is a very clunky game (terrible controls) plus if you want a good sand-box game get either Saints Row 2 or GTA4 (Red Dead Redemeption is also coming out). Conviction will be a good choice if you are into coop because it never gets old (4 different coop modes).

I tried the demo and the controls were very weird and this is from the GS review:
"Broken targeting can make gunplay a pain"
"Just Cause 2 is one of the few games that punishes you when you have good aim and rewards you when you don't."
How would random strangers know better than you what your brother would want? I haven't even played Conviction yet.hey all, its my bros birthday and i dont know which game to get, splinter cell or jc2. please put ur own opinion on which game we should get. appreciate the help!!!!!

So? I own the game and I am telling you I have absolutely no problem controlling it. I actually asked one of my buddies if it gets worse at some point because the aiming was easy for me and I read the GS review. "Broken targeting" is just plain wrong. I think playing the PC version first soured Kevin on the console controls, because I didn't find it hard to aim at all. Also, hard to aim =/= "clunky" controls.[QUOTE="BURSTIIIFIRE"][QUOTE="Hahadouken"] Just Cause 2 doesn't have clunky controls. It's super easy to control. I think playing the PC version first soured Kevin on the console controls, because I didn't find it hard to aim at all. Also, hard to aim =/= "clunky" controls.Well maybe you got used to them...which is good. But I played the demo about 4 times and I couldn't stand the aiming. And I'll quote one more thing that really annoyed me:
"it's not so awesome that you can aim directly at the guy's head and unload clip after clip without doing any damage to him. The lack of impact animations can also make it momentarily unclear if your bullets are having any effect in these circumstances, which exacerbates the issue."

The game has control/interface issues, but that's a pretty insignificant one that didn't even register with me. So you waste a couple of bullets when hijacking vehicles, big deal.
A bigger issue would be the stupid big hit boxes or whatever for structures. This is something you only really notice when using the more accurate weapons and actively try to go for the more cautious approach. Basically you're standing behind something, have a guy in your crosshairs, and somehow you hit your cover instead.
Calling in the chopper, pushing buttons, entering vehicles, using a mounted gun and swapping weapons is all on the same button. This will obviously lead to you sometimes performing an action you did not intend for. Similarly stunt jump and melee are on the same button, although I rarely hit dudes so this was never an issue for me.
Crouching is intentionally crippled. I disapprove of this design choice.
The game has problems, but that doesn't stop it from being immensely enjoyable for the vast majority of the time. Which is the same conclusion Kevin VanOrd arrived at.
