Splinter Cell Conviction versus MGS4: HD Screenshot Comparison

In my opinion MGS4 is the winner, even though the screenshots of that game are pretty poor. First off they used all night screens of spliner cell and all day light pics of MGS4. They also only used screenshots from the first act and not the other five which (imo) had better graphics. But all things aside, MGS4 still comes out on top. This is a testemant to Kojima's work because even though it's two years old it can still visually outdo AAA games being released now. Not to metnion the fact that MGS4 is considered to be one of the best games ever released.

So what do you guys think of this article? Which game is graphically superior?

I'll take SC's entirety.

both are great looking games but i dont want to call which is better untill i get to play splinter cell for myself. From those screens splinter cell has some great enviromental details, while only 1 or 2 of the MGS4 shots dont show the enviorments to well which is a shame because like you said, in the later acts they look really good.

Yeah I wish I could find some screenshots of ACTS 3, 4, and 5 for MGS4. They really do look amazing even next to games like Uncharted 2 and GOW 3.

But here's what I think Splinter cell wins in texture's and MGS4 wins in charachter models and enviromental detail. Also a lot of MGS4's environments where really open and had branching paths. Here's 4 moments that really stood out and technically outdo anything we've seen in Splinter Cell so far.

I don't know, but the splinter cell conviction screenshots definitely weren't from the 360 version.:P

Played through the demo twice.. I wasn't impressed with the graphics. Perhaps the final version will be a bit cleaner..

The last two SCC screens are from the very early build. Even so, SCC still looks a lot better than MGS4.

All I see is the difference between the Black Levels of the 360 and PS3.

Conviction is coming out almost 2 years later, so it should look better.

According to those screenshots, SCC looks significantly better.

from a gameplay standpoint I like Convinction better...Nothing worse then a game being touted as stealth and then being able to run past every single encounter without firing a shot and every enemy noticing you like you can in MGS4.

I love MGS4 and will take MGS game over SC game any day, but I don't like how MGS4 is all sepia. Character models in MGS4 are great, but the enviroments are bland.

Why is the Act with the worse visuals always used for MGS4? From 3 on the game looked amazing, especially Act 4.

but judging by those pics... SC:C clearly looks better... much better textures.

That's not that the 360 can't run MGS 4, it's the fact that there will simply be one too many discs for the game to even be on the 360.

it wouldn't be a problem if mgs4 didn't have too many cutscenes and metal gear online. but it should be able to work on the pc though

SC:Conviction is at 576p? that is a terrible resolution. That is almost SDTV quality.

Having played the recent SCC demo and completing MGS4, MGS4 looks better imo. SCC graphics are pretty standard for this gen imo and the animations are below average but the non-cutscene animations for MGS4 are below average as well.

According to those screenshots, SCC looks significantly better.
