I read somewhere that it would take TOO many disc's. All 3 games fit on 1 Blu-ray. but it would take 3 discs for Xbox.

I think that's odd too, it's also on PC but not 360. Isn't the HD collection the xbox version of the games though? I hear it is, anyway only reason I can think of is that they are trying to get PS3 gamers into the series. Double Agent didn't sell too well on PS3 but that's because PS3 gamers like MGS better, it's kinda like how they brought MGS 2 to the origional Xbox and it didn't sell too well. Different systems have different fans.

It should be on 360 though....

So...?

so 360 uses the outdated DVD9, I'm guess they didn't want to embarrass themselves by having the game on so many disks

Done. I love the SC series. The books fit in with it. I still go back and play PT and CT sometimes and they look great upscaled on the 360. I still prefer the original xbox version of DA to the 360 one. Although I like the 360 one. And Conviction gets a lot of hate, but it is a solid game, imo. If it stayed the same it would get stagnant. I liked the action-oriented break.

On last check splinter cell hd wasn't a remake it was a rerelease...so....I doubt it would take up more then 2 discs if that.

It costs almost the same to make a blue-ray disc since it is capable of holding more memory.

Bluray cost per disc is $1.35 to $1.45, DVDs are $.35 to $.45 per disc. :|

Exactly. Thus the collection came out for PS3. I still don't understand why Sony threw out BC.

its not about the physical disc cost, its about the costs imposed by MS on multiple discs. Their licensing costs per disc is stupid. Not to mention some of MS publishing rules are pretty lame.

So...?

Less disc writing + checking + labeling + packing + weight + volume = Less labor + Overhead + Shipping costs = More profit Is it really that hard to figure out? lol Blu-Ray isn't just more convenient for the customer, it's more convenient for the manufacturer as well.

Making it available to everyone = more profit. Is it really that hard to figure out? Alienating a whole user base isn't very profitable mr. I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

But it's also a bigger risk if people don't buy in. These "HD collections" are supposed to be some old games in 1 simple easy to make package with little effort and overhead costs, just rehashing games the companies already made and trying to continue to milk some extra cash from them. I agree though that it sucks to alienate a fanbase because of it though. But aren't there some of the Splinter Cell games for sale on the XBL Marketplace or something though? I think I remember seeing some on there recently...

the xbox 360 upscales most BC titles to HD, theres no point in releasing a HD splintercell collection on the 360 especially when you can pick up all the SC games from the xbox for under a fiver.

From what I gather it was nothing special, just a very slightly updated rerelease, 360 owners have access to those games. I quite like Splinter Cell and I don't think I would buy it. It hasn't even got the multiplayer for the 2nd two titles. They can lie and say that it was out of date, but the lack of multiplayer is why the GC versions scored lower. It's like a big part of the game, I might have been interested for that.

PS fans can cling to it if they want, but it was a bit of a wasted opportunity.

Just get it for PC. The games are from last gen so they shouldn't be hard to run. Heck my 2004 PC could max each one easily past 720P even Chaos Theory. I think it could handle up to 1600x1200 res fine at max settings.

Coulda sworn I read that Sony may have actually helped pay some of the development costs to secure it exclusively. As for not wanting multiple discs, why not just make them Games on Demand titles? I bought the collection, but would have preferred to be able to just get Chaos Theory HD as a download.

In fact these games may have originally been intended as downloads, because on PS3 the whole collection basically installs directly to the HDD. I mean wow, it's a large install.

because you just put them in the 360 and play them not rebuy them.
