They aren't tactical shooters, they're stealth games. GRAW is a tactical shooter.

Metal Gear Solid > Splinter Cell. Splinter Cell does look better than MGS, but MGS has the better story and is much funner.

As a pure stealth game Splinter Cell has always had MGS beat IMO. I don't think either of them are "stealth shooters" though...

The MGS boss battles alone destroy Splinter Cell (which is a pretty cool series).

As I see it the only argument is which is more of a stealth game but MGS is a better game.

Uh, ok. In your opinion, sure, MGS is the better game. I've been playing MGS since the NES Metal Gear games and I love Splinter Cell.

Like i said, as a pure stealth game (stealth mechanics), Splinter Cell has it beaten hands down IMO. You have issues with that?

It seems I have an issue with the bad animation and surreal moves on SC. And the fact you enjoyed a port of the 1st MG on SNES means how baddass MG is.

Well, if you're going to make a mockery of the English language with E-slang or whatever they call it, you might as well let others, eh?

Splinter Cell destroys MGS in quality of controls, realism, gameplay, story. MGS is like a bad anime. None of it makes a lick of sense. Let's not forget SC also has an awesome multiplayer mode. PS: they haven't shut that server down yet. ;)

His question was essentially which is the better "Stealth Shooter"? Which isn't really a genre...in fact, it's a contradiction. I didn't find anything wrong with the animation on any of the SC games. Yeah, there are surreal moves on SC. But you don't think that taking on a fully armed mech on foot is surreal? Both have surreal aspects...they are, afterall, videogames. As a pure stealth game, Splinter Cell wins IMO. If you're looking for a deep story to the game but with less advanced stealth gameplay then i believe MGS is the series for you. That's essentially my thoughts on the two games.

That "realism" is what makes Splinter Cell kind of dull. MGS anime-esque style is what makes it more fun if you ask me. Splinter Cell has better controls though.

Well first I didn't say MGS isn't surreal, on the contrary, but so much for sc being realistic when he can stay up on 2 walls and doesn't even crawl.

Also did you play the original MG for the MSX?

I like splinter cell better.

Yea MGS has some good stories, but a good video game story is like being the tallest "peck".

Chaos theory really raised the bar in terms of gameplay for stealth shooters.  I loved how each level had dozens of ways to accomplish the mission.

The one that was specifically for Europe and Japan? Yea, briefly. I don't recall ever beating the game to be honest but i did play it briefly. It's tough to remember most of the details.
