Spore might not be all that

I heard it on AOTS earlier today. They were saying it doesn't have any real gameplay to speak of so the big game hermits and sheep are bragging about might be a big bust. I never understood all the hype.

Yeah I know what Will Wright has done. A bunch of games that bore me to tears.

I'd say either:

1) Show us your opinion is based on something a little more tangible than something you heard earlier today (which includes disregarding a majority of the industries previews of Spore, as well as reviews of games like The Sims and Sim City).

or

2) Blog it.

See, I think Spore looks great in concept.

There certainly are some criticisms you can level at it, too ambitious, overly delayed.

But having no gameplay to speak of? Looking boring or generic? Nah, that's absurd.

I don't really care anymore about Spore, I used to once upon a time, before Will Wright became the walking Nintendo propaganda and just an annoying prick.

However, I'm still slightly intrigued about how this whole making an alien race, then doing whatever with them, works.

I am just relaying news I heard on Attack of the Show. It was the first I heard anyone talk about it in a long time. They were saying it has been delayed so much because they can't figure out how to make the gameplay work.

Have you seen gameplay videos? It must be a nightmare to try and balance things in that game. It's just goofy looking creatures biting on each other. It was a roundtable discussion with three guys from various sites and magazines.

I am paraphrasing. Maybe they have a transcript on their site but I don't see how the two are mutually exclusive. From what I can tell it seems they have gotten it to the point where you can design your creatures but development has stalled in terms of progressing from there.

I agree Spore might not be all that because Will Wright has bitten off more than he can chew in terms of scope of gameplay.

i mean,seriously. back in the days,who wouldve though a game where u had to look after virtual humans as they whine and whine and whine about their needs would b SOOO popular???

same goes for spore,why would we wanna play a game that makes us look after a whole species as they whine for their needs?

this game will be addicting. like the wii. its pretty much the most hated console this gen. yet its selling the most. because ppl find it addicting. maybe not you. but other ppl with different taste.

the sims has a wide fanbase spread through all ages. and if they advertise it well enough maybe non-gamers would find this game interesting.

and MY GOD,its coming out for the wii. which seling like hot pancakes. and now,imagine 60% of wii owners buy spore on the wii.

and now imagine 60% of pc gamers buy the game.

imagine how wide is popularity will be. people will buy this game because it WILL. I REPEAT. it WILL be addicting just like the sims.

Go join the army .... go and become a hitman ... its not impossible either :roll: ... games are not just about killing, which is why this industry is stuck, Adults in particalar like games like the Sims. so do any age, it reflects a fictional real life which you control...
