Square Enix... Are they that stupid?

What do you guys think?

I've read a lot of people saying "Squeenix sucks nowadays" and "Squaresoft is way better than Squeenix" and especially "WTF... FFXIII on Xbox 360???".

Although I can see why FFXIII is going to the X360. Most likely because of the separate install base of PS3 and Xbox 360 (PS3 is bigger in Japan than X360 whereas X360 is bigger in the US/EU). Nowadays it really is hard to make money (plus the recession) so they probably had to make it multiplatform in order for the fans/masses to buy it more. Think about it (and as a very rough example), FFXIII sells 5m (PS3 exclusive) VS. FFXIII sells 4.9m (PS3) and 2m (X360). What would the company prefer then?

Oh FYI, I'm a PS3 owner and I don't feel awful about FFXIII exclusivity.

In my opinion, multiplatform is a good way to branch out the series despite fanboys will feel hurt on non-exclusivity, it will contribute to the company indefinitely.

Squeenix general calibre of games seems to have fallen since the merger.

The point about making FFXIII is obvious, more money is more money. Why wouldn't a company do it?

yes.. square right now cant even produce quality games like xenogears, FF7 to FF10, Chrono Cross Parasite eve,, How i miss the old days,,

FF 8 was definately one of the better titles since FF7. I liked it a lot better than 10 and 12 that's for sure. Actually my favorite FFs were the three made for PS1.

Of course, I play FF games for the story not for the awe-inspiring gameplay (cause in most FF titles the gameplay was a bit weak IMO)

the trigger before the attacks makes it unique though. FF8 is one of the best game ever made.. along side FF7.

Personally, I don't care what happens with FF XIII, I'm just trying to figure out why Dragonquest IX keeps getting pushed alongside it. Honestly, if Square Enix wanted to make their fans happy, they would do a third Chrono series game. Its not impossible, and some of the major players who worked on Chrono Trigger are still with the company.

Ohh well, I kinda wish they would stop relying on the saftey net of Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest and do something different. Or at least revive some of their older series.

The most recent title, XII, wasn't even that bad compared to the majority of JRPGs. It's a pretty good one.

VI is just as easy and its highly acclaimed.

Final Fantasy has sucked since that stupid online game came out in my opinion. FFXII just didn't have that Final Fantasy feel to it at all. I don't know how to explain that, but it just felt like some other mediocre RPG.... FFXIII can take as long as it wants. I've totally lost interest anyway. Heck at this point I wouldn't care if it became a 360 exclusive. Only thing I want out of SE is FFvsXIII. After that they can go bankrupt for all I care. Nephilim83

SE has just become lacking in quality and fun imo. TWEWY was their best project since KH and I think it was only published by them. Multiplat or not their strategy also makes no sense so far this gen since they don't even have a minor release on PS3 which would give them big numbers in Japan even if it was multiplat.

It was a piece of crap to the majority of old fans of the series. Im not a hardcore fan in anyway but I felt like FF8 is where the FF series really went downhill. It really wanted to try and be realistic but it just dosen't work out in the end. The story was also kinda cooky in a way and has a ton of plot holes when you look into it.
