One of the most critically acclaimed RPG's ever made is now Square Enix's flagship title for the Virtual Console!

Yeah, this is squaresoft's second VC game...but the first one was so bad, we might as well call this one the first.

From the enix side we have already gotten actraiser (sweet!) and I'm not sure about others.

You know, I didn't know what it was until a month ago. And I am HUGE gamer. I actually thought it was a joke when I first heard about it.

Then I dug up some videos on YouTube and it looks good!

Finally a real Squaresoft game!!! not square enix crap... Squaresoft was on an insane role on the snes with this game FF6 and chronotrigger back to back.. They have never been as good since then..

what kind of cable? if you have the original power cord (the one with the brick lol) thats all you need. just use the video/audio cable from an N64/GC/Wii and your set!

No no no, that's the first ENIX game. And Actraiser is one of the best games of all time.

The first SQUARESOFT VC game was King's Knight. On of the most boring games of all time.

Remember, back when marioRPG was made, they were still just squaresoft.

Cool. I've never played it, but everyone considers it one of the best games ever. With this and Earthbound ready for release, my future is going to be heavy on old-school RPGs! (I assume they're both coming out in the US soon.)

Last summer we got Paper Mario (my second-favorite game, just after SMG), so it kind of makes sense to get it's predecessor now.

Um... this is just my personal opinion, and I'm sure that many others will differ from it, but I think changing old classic games isn't always the best ideas. You CAN'T improve an already great game, that would be like going back and attempting to change up great classics like Chrono Tigger and attempting to update it to today's standards. Part of the charm and the appeal of these great games is their graphics, their gameplay elements, and just what they are, not what someone can change them into. Games like Super Mario RPG, Chrono Tigger, A Link to the Past, Final Fantasy 6, Secret of Mana, and so many other great games from the SNES era don't need to be updated or changed. Claiming Xbox Live Arcade makes games better is insane, all it does is update something that doesn't always need it, and this is definitely one of those gams that don't need to be changed. It needs to be enjoyed in all its glory as it is.

This is the one VC game I've been anticipating the most, since I mostly missed it back in the SNES days (I did play it briefly but not nearly enough for some reason). I'm downloading it the moment it comes out!

If most of those XBLA games were great, we'd be talking.

This is not square, this is Nintendo releasing it on VC. Nintendo owns the IP(mario) while Square was the one who made it.

You aint gonna see FF, CT etc on VC.

That game sucks so much. You don't even need to play during combat, the characters just fight for you. It's so boring... if only they would have made a Mario platformer with the same graphical style.

Actually, I hate pretty much all of Square's games, but I love most of Enix's. I really wish they never would have joined :(

What are you talking about? You have to press buttons at certain moments to get stronger attacks and to keep attacks going. The game had a lot more involvement than most RPG's of the time. The game is an absolute masterpiece in every way. The best Mario RPG game out of a series of great games. Don't hate.
