Yea I totally agree. They haven't made a truely genuine RPG since FF7,8, and 9.
FFX was very simple and had a terrible ending. He was just a dream?........well I guess its kind of an anti-climax. I guess everone including Yuna(aka "love of his life") will have to just forget ALL ABOUT IT and move on....
FFXII, I never even finished because of the HORRIBLE STORY!!!!! Why does it have to be SO political and WHY do they speak old english!!! A lil 15 year old isnt gonna give a cr*p about politics. Plus wheres the magic of FF? Wheres the evil master trying to destroy the planet? Or how about that village they cared so much about, being burnt to the ground? Its like "oh no they invaded my homeland! King blah has gone too far! Let me speak to the king of Blahville to get some treaty signed".....lame! :x and no secrets, you never get lost, too easy, no chills down your spine like in the old days.
Kingdom Hearts was great and I really enjoyed the story. I liked Kingdom Hearts 2, but not how the story turns out at the end; it lacked realistic emotion. Like after all that drama and longing to find Kiri, when they finally meet, its like "hey there, lets kill the bad guy k?".......sucks.
I LIKED getting lost, shocked, or angry once in a while cuz it means you're really INTO the game. But now the games are too easy and I'd say the exploration went down about 50%. Yea I know FFXII is HUGE but.....it sucks exploring vast regions, only to find a forgotten treasure chest with a sword thats like 5 more att points better but like 15,000 gil more...
How about when you started FF8 in an insane sword fight, then suddenly wake up at the nurse and end up exploring a whole school! Or in FF7, when you entire the Shinra building, not know what to expect, giving you chills with an awesome soundtrack. I could go on forever.
I'd definitely say Square-enix has lost there magic...
