I think this is great news. I'm glad that IO and Square Enix did this. I give them a lot of respect for this, now if only companies like Sony, THQ and EA did the same then maybe I would buy their games again. Don't get me wrong I buy my games new but I don't like the idea of buying a game with those stupid online passes which is why I stopped buying their games in the first place. I think Square Enix did a great move here.

Anyways here is the article about it:

I had it preordered for PC so wasn't going to be affected by this, but glad they removed it. Online pass for Hitman doesn't really make much sense. Waiting for Steam to unlock it, but my understanding of Contracts mode is that it will be more akin to a leaderboard showing the best scores for what are essentially single player missions. really looking forward to playing. @MFDOOM1983 - LOL at your sig :D

This is about the Contracts mode, and it's not exactly a multiplayer, just some challenge system:
Publisher Square Enix has announced that the game's Contracts mode was planned as being accessible only through a download code in the game's box, but the company has had a change of heart.

Hitman: Absolution's Contracts mode has players creating their own customized assassinations and challenging friends to beat them.GS

You have to be one of the most anoying and ignorant people on these forums. I don't come here often, but when i do, i always stumble in some of your stupid posts. It has an online mode in form of Contracts. You decide who are the targets on one level, with what weapons you can kill him etc. then other players try to complete it for money. What is so hillarious about that, CryBot?

I personally don't see a problem with used games. Online passes are very annoying and I usually do buy my games new. This is good news though.

It's not a true "multiplayer" in the sense alot are thinking. You should read up on it before judging.

If you buy your games new like you say you do, online passes don't affect you. So why stop buying games?

Call me crazy but I don't like companies having a lot of control in the games that I buy (Except for following the laws like not making illegal copies of the game and following the rules in multiplayer, that I can understand). When I purchase my games from them I should right away play them and not waste time inputting those stupid codes just to play the rest of the game that I bought. And some gamers have issues with online passes where it doesn't work and have to call the companies to fix it. It's stupid and we shouldn't have to waste our time doing that.

Plus if I ever want to sell the game in the future to make some money I can't because of those online passes. There are times that I own a game that isn't good anymore and may want to sell it. Why be forced to keep it forever? Also it sucks when me and my friends can't play some of the features when I'm at their house. So I'm stopped supporting them in buying their games if they are going to continue this way.

I think Contracts mode should be good fun - similar to Rivals mode from Forza 4 - you aren't actually racing another user - just trying to beat their time. In Hitman you are playing the level trying to do it faster / better than the person that set the challenge, and then presumably anyone else that has also played it. It's not PvP multiplayer, but then Hitman was never about Multiplayer

Good I guess... I rarely play MP but I guess it's good to know this won't have online pass in case I decide to check it.
