Square Enix's new jrpg "I am Setsuna" coming to Steam, PS4

LOL at cows - not a PS4 exclusive. Coming to the WEST to Steam and PS4

Inspired by Chrono Trigger, and I really love its isometric not-weirdly-sexualized old-school oil-painted artstyle.

Led by director Atsushi Hashimoto, Tokyo RPG Factory aims to capture the narrative depth, impactful storytelling and masterful character development inspired by the golden era of Japanese role-playing games and bring them to current hardware and technology.

It was never a PS4 exclusive so no one cares.

i just hope they dont go too traditional. both square (with bravely default) and monolithsoft have been giving the JRPG a much needed kick up the ass.

i will keep an eye on it though. im a bit RPGd out at the moment but im sure my batteries will recharge in due course :P.

No release date yet. But I asume this year, in some 3-4 months.

Thats crazy, SquareEnix has a bunch of games maybe releasing in 2016.

Can they make a game that doesn't look like it belongs on the PS1?

It looks terrible. Seriously, did you actually look at those screenshots? The characters look like they were photoshopped in afterwards.

If I'm honest, it looks like yet another shit indie game on PC, except it's allegedly from SE, and PS4 has to suffer it as well. I won't play it on either platform. Little Johnny, I thought your standards were higher than this :)

Never heard of it but it looks amazing, finally a JRPG that goes back to the good old times.

According to Siliconera the game releases this summer.

Calm down kids who cares if it's an exclusive or no a small game like this needs to be on every system so it gets as much sales as it can otherwise the game will bomb and no sequels will make it to the west.

I thought herms liked the idea of Xbox games on PC, and some are willing to deal with the store?

I'm hoping for two things here.

1. That the game is actually really good.

2. If the game is really good, I hope it sells.

Then maybe SE will realize that spending 5-10 years making a CG movie of a game with ass backwards game and art design isn't necessary.

I'll admit, having to play such a great game shackled by such poor performance did make me a little butthurt.

Sounds good to me. I don't mind a 20 hour rpg as long as it's 20 hours well spent. I'd rather have a kick ass 20 hours than some padded out nonsense. I mean shit man, FFVI and CT are two of my all time favorite jrpgs and they're relatively short when stacked up against most of the genre.

Lack of environmental variety could be a drag though. Not that you can't keep a setting like that interesting for an entire game though, they might pull it off.

I feel the exact opposite. I think it looks fun, and can't wait to play it. I was a YUUUGE fan of Chrono Trigger. The art-style gave me a smile as well.

Bad gfx don't bother me as long as the game is extremely fun and enjoyable. As a PC gamer I can play games with both the absolute best graphics and crappy graphics, as long as both are very fun. No one has to "suffer" through this game, unless the Devs screwed the pooch gameplay wise. Just like no one has to "suffer" through countless CoD, EA, or Ubisoft trash AAAs, just don't buy em'. Also love for stuff like Torment, Pillars, and Divinity. Can't wait!

Why does it matter? Nuclear Throne looks barely as good as an SNES title and is retardedly good. Technical elements of graphics aren't even remotely as important as art design.

Prolly still moneyhatted it to keep it off Xbone coz attrition is the way Sony rolls. Plus they want it to look xenophobic.

@bigfatmistake: Bloodborne by itself is better an entire generation of PC exclusives. Uncharted 4 and Persona 5 will be too.
