theres more money in the business for software, not hardware. thats why EA doesnt have a console, when it so easily could make one and back it.
EDIT: more *easy* money. if a console fails or just doesnt pick up enough fans, thats a loss of billions of dollars as opposed to losing mllions on a crappy game.Â

True. Now that I think about it, does SE even have the kind of money to back a console?Â
From that link, I highly doubt they were implying they were making a console. I think they're going to do some hardware like add-ons to some of the consoles.
