They took longer to finish the review and it seems it was cause they spent longer playing it and tried to master the controls, specifically the uber tricks rather than go "they're broken".

Beh. Don't do it. I prefer IGN reviews over GameSpot (I think GameSpot tends to be too stingy with their scores and focus too much on the technical aspects, losing sight of the real matter of importance: is it enjoyable?). However, the boards of IGN are pretty much useless unless you're an IGN Insider.

Yeah, I like the IGN reviews more for the same reason.

On a side note, System Wars is reason enough to keep me on Gamespot.

Seems like SSX is really for hardcore gamers.

IGN is very fanboy friendly but if GS underscores than they typically over score.  Its good to read them both and find the middle ground.

Gamespot is too soft on their reviews and they cut the Wii WAY too much slack.
They didnt even factor in graphics for Warior ware which it should have gotten a 2 in. Not a 9.

lol, did you even read that review, they judge the graphics, gameplay etc on the genre and the system its one, otherwise, wario would get a 1 against gears of war etc. And the reason the graphics got a 9 was because it fitted the 'crazy party theme' of the game perfectly with its random art style.

It wouldn't. A large amount of the charm from WarioWare is the stylization. If it tried for realistic graphics it'd just be bland. Also, I dare you to show me a console game with better 2D animation than WarioWare: Smooth Moves.

Yea ign seemed to blast sonic while gamespot seemed to think it wasnt all that bad.  Wii reviews are off the wall.  Reviewers of Wii games hate the games love the games or find a medium in the games.

The Sonic review is kinda wierd. They give it a 6.9 and call it the best 3D Sonic game yet. I thought the review seemed kinda harsh for the review text, honestly.

I do love how sheep go back and forth between ign, gamespot and gamerankings. Its really sad, So much for your next AAA or even AA in ssx blur. Yet again, its overrated in grahics and sound in gamespot, like hey feel sorry for you. Ign overrates way too many Wii games. I dont see any justification from sheeps, these poor scores and the price tag of the Wiii. Sheeps cry, Gamespot is being to technical on the Wii and marking it down. Well at $250+ for the solo Wii experience, which isnt saying much right now. It better be a technical and the games better stack up. At $60 for the controllers, the control scheme better be spot. Whats all these poor excuses for a game controlling badily, esp when thats the whole selling point of your system. I buy a system for games, not for sales figures. Right now the Wii is failing in that department. You can keep the casuals and non-gamers, if your library is anything to go by.

The few times I do listen to reviews I usually wait to see what Gamespot, IGN, and Gametrailers score them. I figure between the three it should give me a good idea on if I might want it or not. On occasion I wait for Game Informer but usually not.

Despite what you may think, 7.0 games are actually good and worth playing.  The control is pretty good except for the special tricks, and really, it's not the controllers fault some games arn't so spot on with it.  If it was, why would gamespot mark it down? Does GS mark down PSP titles for loading times? No, because it's what is accepted.  If ALL Wii games had shoddy motion sensing, then GS wouldn't mark it down like this.

Also, when you say "This game got a bad score on GS, it must suck" is really stupid.  Sure, we have that whole "lOl OnlY GS MatTTers wItH reviw scoRe hRe!" but when a game is getting 8.0's from many other sources, you know it's going to be good.

Game reviews for the Wii are all over the place. I want to praise IGN for giving SSX a great score, but then again, Sonic got a 6.9, which is way too low. It's just too hard to put your trust in any game reviewer these days. That's why you all should just listen to me and trust my opinions instead. I'm always right. SSX: 8.5 Sonic: 9.0 Those are the true scores. Now go and buy these games!

What are sheep crying about? Average score 7.2 http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/934381.asp 1up gave it a 5.5 Gamepro gave it a 5.0 if anything.. Gamespot was too easy on the game.. anyways.. wasn't it hyped AA? It is officially a flop

Yeah Gamespot seemingly sucks at arm movement or just doesn't take enough to learn the controls.

Right, they rated SSX Blur a 7.4 when most people rated it a 7.2...oh wait.  Gamespot may rate a few games low, but generally, they're pretty close to gamerankings.com's average.  The only real bad review I've seen recently was Zelda: TP, and that could just be considered a one-time deal, especially since Jeff backed up all his points.

I read reviews to get a basic understanding of how the game is. Reader reviews tell me way more than any official review. They tell me how a gamer, not a video game journalist, feels about the game. Also the forums are better here but ign has better site layout IMO.

So Gamespot says uber-tricks are broken, while IGN says they are simply very difficult to do, but are possible to master.  Call me dumb, but I'm going with IGN here.  I actually might buy this, especially because I just sold my Gamecube to my friend and SSX3 was one of the games they bought...*sigh*.  I never thought I was going to buy this...but after reading the review and actually remembering all the fun times I had with SSX3...I think I'm going to pick it up.
