I am one excited citizen to be busting around the verse and crashing into who knows what out there in the near future!

Star Senior Citizen is what it should be called because you'll be an old bugger before it actually releases :P
@jereb31: i'm on the PTU, and 3.0 looks freaking awesome btw. Have some bugs and FOS drops, but it is surprisingly stable
@quadknight: I agree this is good news. I just hope that they can speed up the releases. I have been follow the game now for over 1 year and the dev process is so painstakingly slow.
@jereb31: Well if you're already old then i'm sorry to inform you that you won't be around for the release :P
@Juub1990: ...and naming his company after himself maked him a d-bag? Like the other few million entrepreneurs around the world who named their business after themselfs...like Ford,Ferrari, Fiat, Chevrolet, Edelbrock, etc...all d-bags?
@malibutomi: Makes him sound like one. The people you named such as Ford named their companies pretty early on and they were at times most if not the only members of the company. It’s understandable you’d name the company after yourself if it has one or two people and you’re the main architect behind it all. If you have associates and employ several dozens of people, naming the company after yourself makes you seem like a narcissist. Not saying Chris Roberts is one, just that the move could suggest he is one.
As a PC gamer this game can go F*** it self. Till its released please no one bring it up, and stop glorifying being a PAYED Alpha tester for a game that has been in development for almost half a decade.
As an original backer from 2013 i gotta say.....i dunno if this game is ever coming out in a complete form. I’m just reeeeeally hoping they release Squadron 42 someday soon cuz thats what i invested in when i backed the kickstarter.
@ghosts4ever: Is that so bad for an MMO? Especially that they needed to build up the company first?
Cyberpunk 2077 is in development since 2012 too, and nothing can be heard about it...release date somewhere between 2017-2021...and that is a single player game.

cyberpunk was on hold untill witcher 3 was complete.
this game after 5 years is still in beta testing. eitherway i wont be surprise if cyberpunk never released.
@ghosts4ever: Facts still stand...they didn't start as an established studio, had to build up the company/temas/workflow first. Established studios can spend 3-4-5 years on single player games, so 5 years for an MMO from a team started in a basement with a dozen people is not the end of the world.
As a backer, I'm looking forward to 3.0 and that's all I gotta say about this.
Star Senior Citizen is what it should be called because you'll be an old bugger before it actually releases :P
It looks like my future grandchild will have the honors of playing this game instead of me :(
But however, I'm totally fine with that because I went to leave my legacy behind when I'm gone :)
This game is still gonna release Mr. Daily :P
It's at alpha stage? lol. Alpha? This is a joke, right?
If anyone doesn't know what alpha means it's basically a really early dev build that's nowhere near ready to show to the public.
5 years to get to alpha lmao!
3.0 is a massive milestone in the game's development. Refined quantum travel, in game economy, player generated and NPC mission system, trading, shopping, character customisation and of course planetary landing. Hell that's just the things we can see, there's the subsumption system for NPC's to have a 'life', the object manipulation and item 2.0, massive improvements on the physics grid system, localised servers around the world and much, much more.
Things will go quicker now that they can literally update the game on the fly, thanks to the delta patcher. The next big problem for them will be system jumps but even that is nothing compared to issues they have had to overcome to get the game to 3.0.
@malibutomi: That’s the developer. Roberts Space Industries is the name of CIG’s parent company.
Cloud Imperium Games is the parent company, Roberts Space Industries is a subsidiary (It's the name used for the Austin and LA studios), The Manchester, Derby and Frankfurt studios are Foundry 42.
When that game finally comes out it's graphics will be already outdated :p
But yeah, other then that, it looks pretty good. It's a very ambitious game at the very least

Alpha is - not feature complete
at its most basic phrasing (though various companies make up their own marketing spiel.
Which suits this product.
All the same, I'm not impressed. 3.0 is a fraction of what was originally going to be in 3.0 ... and watching all the streamers, it still runs like ass , riddled with basic-bitch bugs and they only managed to add 3 moons in 1 year of development.
"120 star systems with tons of cities" ... only managed to make 2 in ... 3-4 years?
3.0 will release for christmas as marketin spiel again. will remain barely playable for 3-4 months ... 3.1 will surface 6 months later. ship sales.. rince and repeat.
All that money, all that man power, I've gone past believing "its because of the ambition" ... erm no, its more like as a kick starter you pay less, and you get less "talent" resulting in a project equivalent to any PUBLIC SECTOR I.T work .... aka, "not quite up to snuff".
But no... it can't be that..... they have the finest!

Alpha doesn't just suggest a lack of features it's basically a completely bare bones build that devs use to discuss inhouse where they want to take their game, i.e. a long, long way from anything approaching beta.
I honestly can't believe this is where they are at after all this time. Lack of communication between different teams working on the project or lack of discipline I don't know, lack of f***ing something that's for sure.
If this game ever turns up it won't be anything like what people expect it to be and were told it would be which is just a terrible shame for all the people who pumped money into it excited about the game concept which after all this time is still that, a concept.

You know Chris Roberts started CIG and Roberts Space Industries when the company was just him, his wife, a web guy, and a writer, right? And he was the main architect of the game so....it fits your exact criteria to a T.
I watched a guy play this on Mixer for a couple of hours last night. The UI seems kinda clunky and fills up most of the screen. It was actually boring to watch.
I can see the potential, but it still needs a lot of work. The guy I was watching had a constant stream of bugs and glitches as well. Its a great looking game but Elite Dangerous is still owning this game as far as the actual fluidity of the ship mechanics.
At least we have seen more footage then say Kingdom Hearts 3 and FFVII remastered. I don't get why people are still acting so cynical in every Star Citizen thread
LOL at no release date. Maybe we can play it in 2030.
By then this would have already happened.
Wait, it probably has happened already.
Flying to Delamar in my Freelancer and landing in the hanger bay of levski and then looking out of the windows onto the gigantic asteroid after looking around the underground city was beyond epic, not really concerened about the haters opinions im more hyped for it now then I have ever been.

Primarily, because it's not coming to consoles, you'll notice that the majority of haters in this thread are console only gamers who think they are funny (although a lot of them love to claim they have high end PC's).
@MBirdy88 is about the only PC gamer (and backer) who has consistently complained about the time the game is taking, on these forums at least.

They're planning to show Squadron 42 footage during the holiday livestream and we got another confirmation yesterday that this is still the plan. Seems the SQ42 demo is for real this time, I don't think anyone would want a repeat of last year including CIG. That said I'm not really sure when exactly the holiday livestream will be, though I suspect it will be on the 14th or 15th of december.

December 15th is the day the new Star Wars movie release AKA The Last Jedi. It be cool if CIG does show Squadron 42 on that day for all Sci-Fi/Fantasy fans out there during the TLJ premiering.
