PC exclusive developers will always back PCs, Wii exclusive developers will tell you that fancy HD graphics are unnessary, etc etc.

Won't be long until they "sell out", and PC gamers rage in forums about their betrayal.

I guess he doesn't like money or franchise recognition. But offcourse when you got your dev money from kickstarter...you're not putting you work and livelyhood on the line like hard working employees of the videogame industry do.

That said, I can't wait for Star Citizen. But he really need to stfu and develop the damn game.

Many consolites fail to comprehend that PCs gives better value for your money, and yet it will give you more power for your money. PC gaming is also cheaper.

In a way he already has before. Digital Anvil the company he founded was sold to MS but even under MS they created my favorite game last decade in Freelancer. Conquest: Frontier Wars was good also. Their game for Xbox Brute Force was a massive failure though and that marked the end for DA as MS was no longer interested in them making PC exclusives. Essemble was a similar story. I'm not sure if you could call it selling out as there may have been factor beyond his control but both the company he founded and the previous company he was with were ruined by larger companies. Digital Anvil by MS and Origin Systems by EA.

So? Lesser power hasn't stopped consoles from selling. The next consoles will continue to do well. 

It would be ironic of Roberts was championed by elitist PC gamers considering the flack Freelancer got for being dumbed down. It wasn't dumbed down for consoles of course but so it could be played well without a joystick. In fact there was no option for a joystick at all because it was based around the mouse. I didn't mind this of course because I absolutely love the space sim genre and even back then games for this genre were rare gems. Today the genre in almost extinct. I plead to both fans and developers of the genre forget about the platform or input and simply do everything to bring the genre back to life. That means fans supporting the genre and developers making it so as many people as possible are able to enjoy the genre regardless of platform. I loved Freelancer as a mouse based game, I loved Colony Wars on the PS1 and the console versions of Wing Commander 4 and Darkstar One prove the genre can work well on consoles. Anyway the point I'm making is that the problem of being elitist and shunning games or platforms is eventually you will elite the games and genres you may have had any interest in at all right out of existence. End rant.

Star Citizen doesn't even look very good.

Why would he risk releasing Star Citizen on consoles? Bloody consolite pirates will torrent the game to death and used copies will be resold with no profits for the developer.It´s widely known that console games top the torrent charts.

It´s more wise to stick with more trustful services like Steam and enjoy huge digital sales profits rather than getting messed with shady physical copies plus paying roalties to MS and Sony.:roll:

He can limit his game's market share only to the pc all he wants and get pirated along the way, nobody cares about this niche market or willing to spend more money to upgrade at present. Even if consoles have lost their price and power advantages it really doesn't matter in the end, coz you simply cant play their exclusives and a vast number of multiplatforms on PC anyway. This guy can suck it.

I don't think it really matters though.

On the reverse side there are supposed disadvantages to PC gaming now, and yet it's still the most played platform worldwide.

If consoles do lose the advantage of the up front cost, and power at launch there will still be millions of people lining up to buy them cuz there will be a market there regardless. Wii U managed to sell 3 million units so far while being more expensive than the other two consoles with no significant showcase for power because people wanted a new Nintendo console regardless of those things.

Wii Devs: "This platform cannot do as much as others, but it's okay, because you don't really need those things. I guess they can have what this console does as well as the things this console cannot do, and at the same time, but again, you don't really need all those 'extra' things"

So, what does PC have in exclusive RPGs ? (besides the Kickstarter 2D ones that play on any PC, even from 15 years back)

We're not talking about the games you like, we're talking about exclusive which PC has more... just like a the list and stop being stupid.

I don't even understand why you even mention Witcher 3... when was it ever exlusive ?

to me , the only reasons someone would game on a console is

1) cant afford a gaming pc.

2) not knowledgeable about how to build a gaming pc and has no friends that can.

3) children that want to game obviously cant build a gaming pc, so they have to get a console, so mommy and daddy gets one for little Timmy.

4) the very rare few good exclusives. To this day the only exclusive that looks good for consoles isnt even out yet, and thats the LAST OF US. We dont even know if its going to be a good game.     Gears of war flopped, god of war flopped, halo is no where near what it once was before...

All the best games right now are  Multiplats..     Call of duty, Battlefield 3, Bioshock, Farcry 3, batman,tomb raider, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

Exclusives are worthless these days

Thats all i can see as reasons to get a console.  Basically you have to be either a KID or POOR. 

I also really find it funny that console gamers think console games equals money for the publisher and pc should be written off as piracy.     That is an absolute joke.       There hasnt been a single console game exclusive released in the last 3 years that has even sold more than 2.5 million copies...

PC exclusives get treated very well by their loyal fan base.    Just look at diablo 3.. 12 million copies sold.     World of warcraft = over 12 million players and 9 million that are still suscribed every month to this day.  

Has a console exclusive even came close to 9 million copies sold within the last 5 years?

Idiotic console fanboys. There is a reason why so much games keep releasing on pc despite piracy, BECAUSE ITS PROFITABLE FOR THE DEVELOPER. and do note that everytime sales figures are mentioned for console games, they never include digital sales, which is the dominate distribution platform for the pc....

PC has the largest gaming base, and with a big industry shift to FREE TO PLAY.  PC is the best platform for that, because it reaches the widest amount of players and games dont go incompatible at the end of a consoles lifetime.
