Star Wars 1313 will release on PlayStation 3 this year, according to Sony's PlayStation Germany Facebook page (via NeoGAF).

Today the update was posted alongside screenshots and artwork for the game. It comes as some surprise - we've heard little about Star Wars 1313 since it was revealed at E3 in June last year.

When the game was announced an impressive trailer was released showing visuals that looked too good for the current generation of consoles.

The gameplay video sparked speculation that 1313 was in fact a cross-generation title designed to release on current-generation consoles and next-generation consoles.

At the time developer LucasArts declined to announce the intended platforms, although did say the game was being developed using Unreal Engine 3 and the video was captured from a PC./p>

Star Wars 1313 has been dark since Gamescom 2012. Some believe the lack of news to be a sign that it is indeed a next-generation game. New consoles from Microsoft and Sony are rumoured to be due out at the end of this year.

If 1313 is due out on PS3 this year it follows that it will also release on PC and Xbox 360 this year.

LucasArts, parent LucasFilm and the Star Wars IP were acquired by Disney in a gargantuan $4.05 billion deal back in October.

nothing really confirmed just speculation at this point ... i'm not really hyped for this game either ... i just came on to see if it was a sony exclusive 3rd party game or something ... which its not so i'm not worried ... the console that has the best 3rd party wins the gen

I thought it would be next gen. If that's the case then it will look nothing like what we saw on a current console :? Which sucks because they should wait to release it next gen, it would look so much better, the way it's inteded to look

The consolites, they won't know the difference. ShadowMoses would be posting threads of PC screenshots saying it was the PS3 version praising the Sony gods.

No he would just post several IGN articles and discount everything else that went against him saying they were all fanboys. and then say "I think PC gamers exaggerate the difference and it's not that big". The usual tripe.

But PC doesn't have gens. And technically speaking it's "current gen", not next gen, because of the WiiU.

But yes PC is far ahead already and it will take consoles a lot of effort when they release to try compete

PS3 and X360 are last gen now cos the next gen started with WiiU. They're playing catch up now

Make it cross gen like this SW 1313 seems to be so I can play GTA5 on mah new, much more powahfull next gen console - would be a feast for the eyes plus improved game-play as well me thinks. :D

I don't think they'll do that, a lot of people are wanting to see it on new consoles but they said themselves that now is the perfect time to release it: Link

For them to make it for next generation consoles, they would spend a lot of money and resources getting the engine running vs. making the content and experience they can do now with a fully working engine and systems they are much more familiar with. I'd say at best it would be a port at a higher resolution and framerate, but not much else.

"Now we know what the hardware's capable of, so it's become a lot easier to move things along and a lot more fun, too. GTA: San Andreas came out at the peak of the PlayStation 2's cycle, and we put out a really good game thanks to that."

We might see it get ported, but I severely doubt it. They'll probably just support GTA V with some extra content, maybe add fully detailed versions of San Fierro and Las Venturas, and then work on a new game for next gen.

Also, I'll add this, I fully expect Red Dead Revolution next gen and that will do quite nicely, I'm certain. :)

Never really expected it to be a next gen title. It looked like a current gen game when they showed off some game play at E3. They really would be daft to release only on next gen, there's 140+ million potential units available right now to play the game. Why would they hold it back to have 3-5 million potential customers? Less than half of which most likely have no interest in SW to start with.

So they're just going to have it run at 15 fps at 640x480 then?
