Star Wars The Old Republic to have Space COMBAT

If you've been following the news coming out of the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ panel at Comic-Con International, you've heard the announcement that we will indeed have Space Combat as part of the TOR experience! But what does that mean? Space combat is an alternative gameplay experience to the primary game of storytelling, questing, and ground-based combat. In space combat, you fly your personal ship to various "hot spots" on your galaxy map. From there, you will blast your way through asteroid fields, enemy fighters, frigates, destroyers, and a variety of other obstacles that will evoke memories of some of the great Star Wars™ space battles.

I want this game to come out already so it can crash and burn.

I have a friend who everyday brings out smacktalk about how this game is going to kill WoW. I dont even play WoW so i have no idea why he feels it necessary to constantly bash WoW, and remind of how much better this game is going to be.

in recent years, SWTOR will probably be the most anticipated pc game after SC2, and will probably be the most anticipated MMO ever :)

because WOW didn't grow overnight, I'm not too sure about the anticipation level prior to WOW's launch in 2004.

yeah, Gears of War 2 is actually not even nominated as a GOTY contender back in 2008

Nice, though I want to see footage, though I havnt been impressed with a single peice of footage I have seen on this game, ugly, WoW-Esque ... normal looking MMO.

Is this going to have WoWs penchant for sending you to kill 1000 hogs and then end the quest and then kill 100 more slightly different hogs? Or is this going to be actually fun to go through'?

I've yet to see an MMO without those sort of quests.

I know. I haven't really either, and I think it's lazy, boring, and needs kicking off. We need a new format. Fun combat with more complexity and more of a challenge. I don't mind killing X amount of enemies but dont make me click on them and wait and then heal every so often. I feel there is a next generation of MMOs to be made which will make WoW look like a text adventure in comparison.

I played Wow. I know this is the case. When they tell you to go kill enemy X a large amount of times the story is very rarely much of a big deal and absolutely never justifies actually the boring grind which follows. You did put words in my mouth because you didn't address anything I said and completely changed the crux of my argument.
