Hermits shouldnt really brag about this game. To be honest its just Starcraft 1 with new graphics, new bnet and controls, they dont even put a new race into the game. I dont think it was worth waiting over 10 years. Many people always claim how blizzard cant fail but they already do, you cant deny it. Most people who want play starcraft 2 dont even payed the first one before. I think SC2 will sell well in the end since the game took so long an entire new generation can buy the same game.

I will keep playing WC3, this game for example was worth waiting over7 years. It brought so many new things into the gameplay in comparison to WC2 like, Heros, their items, the creeps, day & night, mercenariness and armor classes + new graphics. Not to mention about the new battlenet with anonym matchmaking, clans, ranks, tours and and. Even i thought that blizzard could not fail when WC3 was out. But since WoW was out Blizzard thinks only about money.

Sorry Starcraft is the national sport of Korea, and at the very least this game will be good. They havent changed the gameplay that much because it doesnt have to be changed cause its that good.

Warcraft 3 is awesome and I agree with the idea of a general decline in Blizzard godliness. However I have no doubt that Starcraft will be a finely tuned slice of win when it hits store shelves, forgive my saying this, but bleargh. I really wish they stuck to their pattern of releasing expansion packs, however, rather than the blatant milkage of separating the campaigns for separate release, ensuring that the actual metagame will remain unaffected for the entire shelf life of the product, short of balance tweaks. The real loss here is that they stiffed the competitive community with no LAN play. This game won't have a quarter of the competitive online lifespan that Starcraft had, although hopefully the map editor toolset will be better than Warcraft 3, which will at least make that aspect last a quarter of a century.

LOL PROBLEM. The Koreans like Starcraft because they can LAN that SoB at competitions. The Koreans will not like Starcraft 2 because there is no LAN. I will bet money the competitive community will cling to Starcraft 1 well after the release of the second game like hardcore FPS gamers cling to 1.6

1) I found WC series way better than starcraft

2) Starcraft 2 is just another RTS , and from what ive seen in BETA , nothing to get WOWed about... Really...

3) What makes RTS awesome though are not graphics or sound. Is the depth and the balance of gameplay , in other words , great multiplayer.

4) Too bad Blizz $@#$@$ up warcraft universe with WoW and we never gonna see Warcraft 4... Too bad... really...Illidan is dead , now Arthas.. pff lame...

5) I must agree with the TC , that after 12-13 years , SC2 should be way better than what ive seen into beta... WAAAAAY!! better.... But thats me i guess.

6) Its a fact that hype of this game is such , that people that actually havent seen a single video or havent read a single post about the game , they gonna buy it/praise it.

7) Hell yeah , will be awesome..I bet it will .. Develop a new game with the very same old successful formula , with time production of more than 6-7 years per SINGLE game, they should be "cry" if wont be AAA....

8) The only good thing i can think at the moment about SC2 , is that AT LAST its near release so the SOONER it will release the SOONER DIABLO 3 will release too... so please

RELEASE STARCRAFT 2 NOW!!! you will sell millions already :)

The TC has a point.

Blizz however are kinda constrained by the fact that it's a sequel; if they change it too much ppl are gonna get mad anyway. Also it's a successful formula, so why change it too much.

On the other hand it's been over 10 years, ppl kinda expect more. Also most of the original SC crowd have moved on, or at least won't take it as seriously. I used to be heavily into SC, buy there's been a lot of change in the last 10 years. What I see is basically SC1 expansion pack with better graphics.

I'll prolly pick it up, even if only for the campaign. However Blizz can't afford ONE flop with the amount of time and money they spend on their games. Maybe they've spent so long on this one, that the mainstream RTS world outside of Korea has passed them by.

I agree with you TC. But I don't think they started only to think of money when they released Vanilla WoW; I think it started after the BC. And remember, Activision and Blizzard became one so it is no wonder who is behind of all of that. Warcraft 3 is one of the best games of Blizzard and Starcraft too (never played Diablo) but I think in WC3 they need to fix the problem with mass air units. As for Starcraft 2, when I read that they are going to make 3 Starcraft II then I knew they were only doing that for milk the franchise. Even the pictures say that it is the same Starcraft 1 but with better graphics.

- I would say Starcraft 2 is looks pretty great - Not everyone is interested in the rpg / inventory stuff they bought in Warcraft 3 - Starcraft 2 I would looks to have the perfect mix of story based campaign and competitive mp in an RTS. I don't really remember which was the last RTS to have that - Starcraft is the story of races, I don't think they should add more - As alway mentioned, Starcraft's claim to fame was 3 pretty balance and unique races. This is still unmatched. Also because of this any changes in unit's and/or their abilities is a pretty big change - They are bringing changes to the single player part for example One campaign will have rpg like stuff , other will be based on diplomacy etc. It would not be that difficult to add it to the mp, bit Blizzard wants to keep the core mp same Could add more but gotta go now

Starcraft II will have an excellent campaign, extremely balanced online and great core mechanics. It doesn't need to rely on gimmicks.

So PC Gamers shouldn't be hyped about a sequel to the genre defining game, national sport of South Korea and a extremely popular game in other countries.

Let me tell you this. If north decides to invade south Korea on SCII launch day, they won't face any resistance. Everyone will be in their homes, playing SCII. It's THAT popular.

So because something is popular like SC in Korea region , means what? Automatically is 10/10 game? Popular doesnt mean great game. As a great game doesnt mean it is a popular game. I do agree though that SC2 will be a good game , but because it is popular doesnt mean alot to me.

I was so hyped when they first announced it, but it was soooo long ago (2007?). They really should start announcing games when they have a release date, I personally lost interest from all that waiting, not to mention their release model is terrible - their first footage is some badass protoss gameplay and then it turns out that to play the protoss campaign you have to wait till 2012 (I'm not that much into MP). So, no thanks, they got way too arrogant ...

It's called diminishing returns. There was a lot of room to advance WC3 over SC (let alone over WC2), but as they continue to add improvements, it becomes harder to do something overwhelmingly impressive.

So outdated that its still superior in many areas compared to current rts's like having some of the best multiplayer to date? This may be your opinion, but this hasn't stopped sites like Gamespot in ranking Starcraft as one of the best games of all time..

Blizzard to me are the McDonalds of the industry now... I for some reason keep buying thier games.... but I accept that they are mediocre revamps purely designed around addictive yet average mechanics. I agree with you on this one, watching the live streams of the beta.... another dunes esque RTS... like I wasnt bored of them years ago. yet theyle get a legion more credit than Relic and the likes.... just like WoW has utterly inflicted the MMO industry with "Instant-Gratification and Antisocialness".... obsurd mainstreaming.

LOL no. Warcraft IIIs Hero system was much better than DoW.... heros in DoW were just godamn powerful units you build when capturing a point ... WHOA... Heroes in Warcraft III had a purpose... they would either make or break your army, not just by being powerful, but by skillfull progressive creeping. they MADE Warcraft III what it was, and they are the reason DoTa is better than both.

Heroes in Warcraft III had a purpose... they would either make or break your army, not just by being powerful, but by skillfull progressive creeping. they MADE Warcraft III what it was, and they are the reason DoTa is better than both.

dota is boring it has only one map. Ne vs Hu on Turtlerock is completely different than on echo isle. Dotas one map is also the reason why you cant finish a game under 50 min. In WC3 i can decide if i want a Tower rush, playing normal or tower camping like in island defend. All this funmaps are just copying elements of the original game.

I double dare you to find ONE other RTS where people still invents new strategies almost daily A DOZEN years after its release.

It's THAT "outdated".

Birdy09

Care to back that up? I dont belive it for a second.

Play enough to understand the basics about SC. There's virtually every day a new way of using *something* in the maps at your advantage that you "would have never thought about".

I thought this was common knowledge for every gamer with experience in RTSs :?

Indeed. Every time I play, I formulate a new strategy as I go. The game is built for that.

I guess you could also say that about WC3?

SC2 will be awesome. Even without LAN support, someone will release a LAN client that forwards the internet protocol into a fake lan situation... tricking the game into thinking its on WAN when its really on LAN... watch, it'll happen.

1-Dawn Of War 1 gameplay>Starcraft 1 gameplay.

2-Starcraft 1 >>> Warcraft III.

3-Hero system in Warcraft III sucks badly, Blizzard could learn how to implement a good Hero system from DoW 1.

DoTA games can be rushed... well the initial towers can. Why does map count make or break a game that has 100 odd classes? its like saying chess is boring

go here and click the on the second video, then you will understand why it seems so similar, but if you were watching the gameplay vids or keeping up with the game at all it's actually pretty different to the first game in many ways. Don't forget the SP is getting major attention this time around with non-linear campaigns and what not.

The thing is, I dont want drastic changes to the first's formula. I liked the first, so why mess with success. I want some new stuff (new units, I love the idea of a not quite linear campaign, etc). I dont have a beta key, but all ive seen of SC2 is what im looking for,

Blizzard to me are the McDonalds of the industry now... I for some reason keep buying thier games.... but I accept that they are mediocre revamps purely designed around addictive yet average mechanics. I agree with you on this one, watching the live streams of the beta.... another dunes esque RTS... like I wasnt bored of them years ago. yet theyle get a legion more credit than Relic and the likes.... just like WoW has utterly inflicted the MMO industry with "Instant-Gratification and Antisocialness".... obsurd mainstreaming.Birdy09

Mediocre revamps? The last 4 blizzard games to come out were 2 wow xpacs, wow and Warcraft 3.. which was the mediocre revamp? Now I do agree wow has become too casual, but the MMOs prior to that only rewarded the hardcore with no life literally. I am glad blizzard making the genre more casual (of course I don't want it as easy as it is right now) but a mid ground would be nice, I like the genre but I can't sink time in it like I could when I was playing vanilla wow.
