That's unusually high for a Blizzard game. Usually Blizzard games have recommended specs a generation behind the current one.

I already new I would be able to max it out,but this is good news considering that System Requirements release usually means the game is approaching release.

It's possible that Blizzard expects the game to actually run well on those minimum specs, unlike some other game developers who seem to think 15fps @ 800x600 resolution qualifies as "minimum."

where did you find this?

But, yes, this is unusually high for a Blizzard game. I somehow doubt it is true.

Also, if System Requirements are released that means that the game is a couple months from completion and everything is getting finalized. So... Starcraft 2 this July?

Blizzard also said that Shader Model 2 was all that was needed. So GeForce 6000 series should be included in that list of specs.

This is 100% fake.

System requirements tend to be released near the end of the development cycle, and, as we all know, StarCraft 2 still has a ways to go in development.

And Blizzard has stated that StarCraft 2 will be playable on old hardware.

Blizzard said that the game was content complete at the end of last year... Anything from January onward has been and will be purely balancing. And if they finally stumble upon something they think is up to their standards(which is near perfection) they will put a release date on it and release.

they aren't that high but at the same time.. This is Blizzard. Not only that but they said the game should run on ANY GPU with Shader Model 2. That means GeForce 5 series and up should qualify. As for CPU, they said single core was all that is needed.

They haven't commented on RAM but 1.5GB is probably the likely final recommended spec and 1GB is the likely minimum.

That magazine says that the Geforce 9000 will max out the game (which is normal) but so should a Geforce 8 series (usually for blizzard games). And did you see the part where it says a dual core 3Ghz processor?...

Blizzard games aren't even released that often. I mean, geez, it's been 4 years since WoW has been released. What was the game released before that? Warcraft III/TFT. :|

These specs are extremely forgiving, especially if you're a modern day PC gamer.

IT'S NOT FAKE

And translating the rest, it reads:

GPU: With the 9 series Geforce cards or the 3000 radeon series, the game will be playable at max.

CPU: It doesn't seem that the game will perform much better with better processors than the 3Ghz core2duo or athlon x2.

RAM: 2GB, but it will perform better if they are in dual-channel.

Peripherals: A laser mouse and a gaming keyboard will be very good.

The game is being developed for MACs and PCs.

For multiplayer, if you don't have ADSL, you'll be out, and it is recommended a 3GB ADSL.

I just don't quite get could possibly require a minimum of 1GB of RAM in Starcraft II. As fun as it looks, it shouldn't be using that much power. 512MB RAM sounds more reasonable to me.

how do you know the magazine isn't making stuff up?

It seems so fake it isn't even funny. Because who uses a magazine to release system specs? Specifically a spanish magazine.. It MAY have been true if it was a popular US magazine or a Korean Magazine but a no-name Spanish magazine? I REALLY doubt it.

1GB is reasonable... Considering some videos and screenshots have had over 100 units on screen at once... With even more running around elsewhere. It will require 1GB of RAM.

Time to spend a hundred or so bucks to get caught up then.

As for why Starcraft 2 will require 1 gig minimum, keep in mind this is not Warcraft 3, with a low focus on unit numbers. Blizzard promised the same scale in Starcraft 2 as in Starcraft 1, and they seem to be delivering on that promise. It's not going to be easy to limit the sheer number of units on screen if they want to mimic what they did in Starcraft 1.

Even if these are real you got to put things in perspective. Yes the recommended specs are very high especially for an RTS, but this game is gonna be around for a decade. It's not like they'll be putting SC3 out anytime soon. Just remember in 4 years time those specs will look pretty low end, just like all Blizzard games which probably have the greatest longevity and support from any developer out there.

A very uncommon spanish magazine getting the real specs for the game before every other source as well as months before release?

Since when do Blizzard release the specs out of your ass ? The game is not even in Beta stages.

The only requirements for Starcraft 2 for now are skills/strategies and tactics.

and Shader Model 2(which includes GeForce 5 series and up). That is the only official thing they have announced.

That's unusually high for a Blizzard game. Usually Blizzard games have recommended specs a generation behind the current one.mjarantilla

LOL its not gunna release tomarrow, but by the end of the year, so ya, a generation behind the current in late 08

How about you THINK NEXT TIME.

Why would Blizzard release the system requirements for their game 6 MONTHS before release? Maybe 6 weeks but 6 months? Are you joking? So your point is rendered useless by the fact that Blizzard wouldn't release specs until the game was almost gold. So either these specs are unnaturally high for a Blizzard game or they are fake because the game isn't near release anyway.

And Blizzard has previously said that all the game will require is Shader Model 2... And now I sound like a broken record because I have to repeat myself 200 times.

I didn't mean GeForce 7 to GeForce 8. I meant a full generation, as in 2-3 years. Just as an example, when I bought WarCraft III, which came out in 2003, I could run it fairly well on a laptop with only integrated graphics and 128MB of RAM that I bought in early-2001. Now, granted, I turned most of the specs to low or minimum, but it still looked great.

By that note, I should be able to run StarCraft II pretty well on 2003/2004-level technology, with either 512MB or 1GB of RAM and a GeForce 5 or 6. And that's exactly what Blizzard claimed when they said that gamers would only need Shader Model 2.0 (circa-GeForce FX) and a decent single-core (probably at least 2.0-2.4GHz) to play the game.

Hm, I agree with other people, these are unusually high minimum specs for a Blizzard game. Blizzard games are famous for their accessibility to all gamers regardless of what computer they own, but this seems like it'll be excluding some people who can't meet that bar, like me. :(
