Starfield PS5 is not happening according to Bethesda and Microsoft.

As spotted by VGC, senior vice president of global marketing at Bethesda Pete Hines and the general manager of Xbox’s marketing Aaron Greenberg took to Twitter on August 30 to dispel the rumors that Starfield was also coming to PS5, following a misunderstanding during a Bethesda Gamecom 2021 stream.

I've looked at the original quote. It just sounds like the decision is above his pay grade, and he didn't want to make any predictions he knew he wasn't in a position to decide.

I've always said it was 50/50 chance that Starfield would be on PlayStation, depending on pre-acquisition commercial agreements, how much work had already been done on the PlayStation version, and whether the new owners decided to scrap it. The E3 trailer suggested they have made their decisions. I would have thought that would be the end of that.

I was under the impression everyone already knew it was exclusive.

If you're a Bethesda fan, you should probably own an Xbox/PC.

You do know Starfield is being made by the wonderful folks who blessed us with Fallout 76 right? Lol.

While I'm sure some people will still hope that it comes to Playstation, I would hope that most understood that all Bethesda games outside of MMOs or maybe Battle Royale games would be exclusive.

Just doesn't make sense to purchase a large publisher and still put games on the competition's devices.

I could understand if MS was purely a software company and didn't make Xbox or Surface devices.

If Sony allows XCloud then I'm sure MS would make a PlayStation App

Let's not get carry away here. Some Sony fans already have PC's, so I'm sure they got nothing to worry about Starfield isn't coming to PS5.

But let's be real, BSG games never ran that well on PlayStation consoles and with Game Pass+PC also with xCloud, more ways to play the game so hardly a lose for Sony fans.

Different game studio. Todd's studio made TES and Fallout single player games. IMO Fallout 4 was their only misstep. Dumb settlement shit hurt it, survival builder games were a fad back then and they wanted to cash in.

I doubt Starfield will have anything like that tho.

Cloud streaming and the Series S will be easy, low-cost, ways to play Starfield if you're a Sony fan.. which, ultimately, is the entire point of streaming devices and low-cost consoles..

Videophiles "lol" at streaming movies yet virtually everyone streams movies at this point.. 🤷‍♂️ Apple users "lol" at low-cost Android devices yet Android dominates the worldwide marketshare because of low-cost devices.. Ease-of-access is a benefit no matter how you slice it..

If you truly care about performance, there's the option of a dedicated gaming PC or an Xbox Series X on the console side.. at any rate (again), there's plenty of ways for Sony fans to access these games so it's pretty laughable for some people to still hold out hope for a PS5 release..

Outside of SW, there's a group of fanboys that represent a significantly larger number than SW Cows who have started petitions, online polls, web sites, and videos begging MS and Bethesda to make Starfield available for PS5.

If I wanted to play this game and had to spend $500 on another console, then yeah, this news would suck. Fortunately MS is a software company and will be putting it on PC, as well as phones, tablets, refrigerators, etc via xcloud.
