This issue has been on my mind for quite some time now and i really just need to get this off my chest.. This really hit home today actually after all the mediocre reviews came out for MK VS DC Universe, now I know in the gaming world this game was not hyped whatsoever but it was a game I was looking forward to because I love the MK franchise and Im dying for something new to play other than shooters but looks like this game turned out to be a disappointment (Which is no suprise) which brings me to my topic in this thread.

While I think overall the PS3 and 360 are good systems and have potential I think the companie executives that run the operations are killing the gaming business. I was thinking back to the PS2 era and how things where just so much better and simpler back then.. There was just so much diversity in gaming, for instance you didnt have only one game that made the system like you have today. Today you have only game for each system that either makes or breaks the console. For the 360 its Halo/Gears and for the PS3 its Killzone 2. In the PS2 era great games NEVER got overlooked like they do this gen.. I remember games like Devil May Cry, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Tekken, MGS, God Of War, Twisted Metal Black and even the James Bond games like Agent under fire where all very respected and all did very well.

This gen it just seems like you have 2 consoles and all the companies are worried about is trying to outdo each other. Sony announces Home, 360 announces avatars etc. and im so sick and tired of having to update and download crap all the time, call me old fashioned but this crap is starting to bug me.. Especially the PS3 where they have mandatory installs on some games, what kind of crap is that? oh and the 360 isnt innocent either, since when did a gaming console become a medium for advertisements like the 360 is? Im so sick and tired of seeing adverts pop up on my 360 dashboard.

Im sick and tired of great games like Mortal Kombat and Banjo not getting the development time they deserve to really make them the great games that they should be.. Im sick and tired of shooters dominating this generation of gaming, im sick and tired of microtransactions, I mean MS actually charges you just to change your gamertag?! really MS?! I mean the LEAST they can do is give you the option to change your gamertag for free every year each time you update your xbox live account.  Anyways this thread is already long enough, you guys get my point.

I remember i had a huge variety of different genres of games for my PS2, ranging from Sly Racoon(Or Sly Cooper to you americans), to GTA Vice City to 007: Nightfire. Neither the PS3, nor the X360 has that kind of variety, which is sad really.

When it comes to Variety, I feel that the Eastern Devs do that better, with the West dominating development, we see more of that.

The problem is that gaming change, the ps2 era was a lack of FPS and WRPG, since the next gen become more of a PC type FPS and WRPG are abundant on the consoles and gamers mostly americans prefer those games and games diferently do not sell so well like LBP ect. sony are taking a change and releleasing inovative and new thing but do not sell a lot of millions like microsoft that do not take to much chances and releasse the same king of games and the othr type of gemas are low budget and do not sell so well. Is not the industry are the gammers that are chinging the industry people do not care no more about adventures games hack and slash and JRPG.

First off, you need to stop living in the past. The past is not always as great as your remember it. When it comes to the past you only remember bits and pieces so when you think about gaming you remember all the positives and think that they had no wrongs.

Second, you complain about lack of diversity? Face it, this gen is the most diverse gen ever and it has only just begun.
