Is there a dev kit yet? are there final specs yet?

From what I've read so far they are using PC's to demo the games and they are revising their hardware specifications.

If this is so how are the game developers going to fully test and optimise their games in time for launch? I know there is still about 4 months until launch but the game devs are going to want to start pressing the discs a month before they ship so they have about 3 months to get it finished and probably gonna want to ship some test units to the devs to finish and test the games before that.

Isn't it cutting it a bit fine? Or is this normal for a console release?

LOL, but seriously is there any more news, I mean the games on Xbox One in theory could be the most awesome concepts ever but if on launch they have not been tested properly there is going to be a lot of problems. Or will there be lots of day one patches for launch titles?

they haven't officially announced the hardware. but it is assumed to be the 8core CPU, with the 8gb DDR3, ESRAM, and a 1.2 TFLOP GPU

If they haven't announced the official specs, than a I imagine the specs are even worse than the ones you listed.

Revised hardware specs (unless they're lower) constitute wishful thinking on the part of some. It's far too late to do much to upgrade the hardware specs however much some might wish for it to be closer to the PS4 performance-wise.

The only thing they might be able to do is increase the clockspeed and that would result in lower yields (supposedly already pretty darn bad) and worse thermal performance so that is doubtful. The 1.1 TFLOPS spec comes from them reserving 10% of the GPU for non-gaming purposes.

By comparison Sony is supposed to have a dedicated ARM processor in the PS4 to handle OS-related tasks, although it's not clear if it handles everything or just a subset of tasks.

Well that's what happens when Microsoft's engineers purposefully did not target the highest-end graphics.

But Sony is promising the same suspend feature. So, if people are going to say that the XBox One has less power than it really does, then they will have to do the same with the PS4.. It's still 1.23 TFLOPS vs 1.84 TFLOPS...

Neither of them did, but the disparity is significant enough that you have to believe Sony caught Microsoft entirely unaware. I mean if nothing else think about just how quiet things were with the PS4 compared to the XBONE, much less the PS3. It was the best kept secret Sony has had in awhile and it showed not only in their respective reveals, but in their respective performance specifications as well.

I can't believe that Microsoft would be so daft as to willingly price their hardware higher with that big a performance delta.

See above, that is not necessarily the case. At a minimum we know that the ARM processor is responsible for tasks such as downloads and charging controllers while the rest of the console is in a low-power/suspended state.

We don't really know what all else it does, but even if we assume that they reserve the exact same amount of resources that still puts the PS4 further ahead of the XBONE in relative terms than if no resources were reserved for either.

dev kits have been out and the hardware is pretty much final. Nothing wrong with xbone's hardware. Main thing is the price that is only there because they are forcing kinect on us.

Without changing the chip design, clock speed can change the TFLOPS number.

Just like how the 360 was launched. Seems quite fitting if they rush this console to market as well with a lot of issues.

Thats pretty much MSes answer to anything. What's the hardware? The cloud. The way MS speaks, if you could hook up an SNES to the cloud, it would be able to play Crysis 3 at max :P

But that would cause a lot of stability and overheating problems. Can MS afford another RROD? I think not, so they will probably play it safe in that regard.

I wouldn't know. I play games, not make them. Funny how cows spin this to be so bad, but since E3 its been all about how underpowered the X1 is. If they up specs, and its a stronger console, and power was a complaint, whats the problem?
