I'm playing Aragami at the moment, it's a great stealth game that just released for PC and PS4 I think.

Wonderful art style, gameplay revolves around staying in the shadows and teleporting from shadow to shadow. I'm having a blast so far !

Here is a screenshot of the game:

Reminds me a lot of Dishonored and Hitman, which are other stealth games I really enjoy :)

Lol, the animations are so bad. Gameplay looks so so. Not bad, but not great.

Yeah, I know about this game. Haven't tried it myself yet but it's inspired by Tenchu series it seems. Styx 1 was pretty good, it had flaws on launch but were later patched. This one seems like improvement, so looking forward to it and Dishonored 2.

You clearly haven't played Styx 1. Play it on hardest difficulty. Best "pure" Stealth game in last several years. It had flaws, especially ledge detection which was later patched, but overall game was pretty good and had potential. If this one fixes some of those issues then it could be a solid game.

Never played Tenchu, but I'm seeing a lot of comparisons to it in the steam forums and reviews.

It does remind me a lot of Dishonored, it's not first person sure, but the main mechanic of this game is the same as blink from Dishonored (which I love)

Only the trick is, you can only jump from shadow to shadow. And if you are in the light, your powers drain and you can't teleport anymore.

Once you get good at it, it's really great, playing tricks with guards minds, etc. :P

First one was a pleasant surprise, although it got really god damn hard at the end.

Hoping this one's even better.

Styx takes place before Of Orcs and Men. Both aren't directly connected since Styx is more of a Spin Off.

Yeah but the really hardcore stealth games scare me off anyway :P

Anyway I'm having difficulties not killing a single enemy and ghosting every level. So for me it's quite a challenge.

Sure. Didn't mean to belittle the game. It's definitely worth the time.

I'm having fun at least.

Looks promising. Happy to finally get some gameplay footage. After the excellent first game, this is a day 1 purchase for me. The first game was definitely not perfect, but given how most stealth games have either died or gradually become more action-oriented it's great to see this game in this day and age. I really, really enjoyed the first game, but it wasn't without its issues. Still, it was a game with heart, and you could tell that the developers poured a lot of love and attention into it even with a shoestring budget. I'm quite excited to see what they can do with a better budget, a better engine and the know-how acquired from the first go-around. I hope the music will still retain the bassy goodness from the first one.

Lore-wise however... they both complete each other.

The first two levels are basically just tutorial missions to let you get used to your powers and the guards are pretty much no threat at all. Things pick up somewhat in the fourth mission, and by the fifth I was definitely getting a decent challenge. The later levels get harder. Moving between shadows is certainly reminiscent of Dishonored, but the speed and ease of movement here makes it much about more planning your movement than as merely a means of traversal.

I hear this a lot but Tenchu wasn't built around having magical powers. It's like when people say Dishonored is like Thief. Aragami is it's very own thing with a unique feel. It plays a lot more like Dishonored than Tenchu, the dev has made it a point to say you shouldn't expect Tenchu on multiple occasions. If I had to describe the game I'd say it's a mix between Thief (because you need to stay in the shadows constantly), Dishonored (blink/shadow leap) and tenchu. It's nice to see a project like this get the release it deserves. I think it was a student project. Once the kids graduated they setup a studio and got to work on an actual game. Very impressive for a first game for sure. They made a really solid foundation for this game that they can really build more on. Patch that came out a couple of hours ago seems to have fixed the bug mentioned in the vid too. They have also added key rebinding which was my only real complaint on release.

@kozio: Yeah it seems like with each new mission, it gets a lot harder, but you also get better at the game. So a nice difficulty spike overall.

Painting a shadow next to a guard that is incoming on your position and is about to see you... just to blink away at the last moment so he doesn't see you. That's a lot of fun !

I like that this game is a mix of different games and influences, you can tell the creators of this game are fans of gaming (just look how the achievements are called: Dishonored, Gravity Rush, ...)

Just like how Dishonored was a mix of games really. Did you know that Dishonored was supposed to be set in ancient Japan during early production ?

I'm really impressed by this game and how much I'm loving it. This is a new and unproven developer. But they certainly made the most out of the Unity engine. Game looks absolutely gorgeous (though performance needs some fixing) and it has a lot of different effects like smoke and particle effects.

The first game didn't really gel with me and I never finished it. The game was ok but there was something odd with the controls.

Well, that would have been interesting. But I am glad they went with Dunwall and more of a steampunky vibe. They made the right choice in terms of the setting, imo. Its never a good idea to develop your ideas around half-baked research that will just take you out of the experience you full tried to convey. I really liked the setting as it was. The art direction was superb. I think what they went with is way more unique and part of what I liked about the game. I love feudal Japan as a setting. It's a shame all those IPs are dormant. I don't doubt Arkane would have made Medieval Japan pop though, they have a very talented art team. That would have been an entirely different game, so it’s hard to say if it would have been a better or not. The idea of a Japanese Dishonored is at least fun to consider though…

Interesting. Assassin's Creed fans have been demanding a feudal Japan setting for years. This could've been the closest thing.
