Oh snap! This is kind of random. If it’s just a screen change, I’m not that interested. Hopefully there is more to it. What do you think, SW?

The Switch couldn't be more irrelevant at this point.

I don't see myself selling my current Deck to get an OLED model. Nice to have the option though.

How has nobody posted the story yet how Steam users can now hide the pornographic games they own from the shared information with others in their friends lists?

That be Earth shattering news right there.

Yep same.... My deck is a wonder machine... Still smitten every time I turn it on. Ill be in line for a SD2 but don't see a need to jump into a new model just for a screen.

Looks like there are some other improvements as well. Supposed to have better battery life, screen is a tiny bit bigger.

Bigger battery is definitely a step in the right direction.

Day 1 on the 1 TB OLED model. I have been holding off on getting one because I knew an OLED would happen. I expect the same upgrade will happen with the PS Portal. PS Portal OLED for $249.99 in 2024-2025.

It's cool that they have a new option. It doesn't motivate me to get a third one but it's nice for others to have more choice.

With more Steam Decks in the house I would need Valve to upgrade Family Sharing to allow people to each borrow a different game from the library. With 2 Steam Decks, one can go offline with most games while the other can play online. With 3 or more, borrowing from a library doesn't work.

I'm sticking with my ROG Ally since its still faster and has a VRR screen.

Looks great though and the mod community is amazing.

Because that's not important and why would I do such a thing? I play my fair share of Hentai games on Steam so why should I be ashamed for that? I have no shame🤷‍♂️

Still don't have any reasons for getting a Steam Deck as I prefer the old-fashioned way and that is having a powerful PC desktop if I want to play something on the go, my Switch will do nicely since I only use it to play exclusives.

The battery life increase is a must and I say that's a worthy upgrade for anyone who hasn't jumped in for a Steam Deck.

Can't justify paying the extra for a oled screen want to pick one up at some point but probably go for a LCD.

Not too shabby. I’m more interested though in something with a Windows OS like the ROG Ally. Do like that the competition is heating up in the handheld gaming sector though.

Yeah the performance advantage of the ROG Ally and Legion Go is still to big for me to pick an OLED Steam Deck over it. Still I am tempted to buy it just to have it XD. I'd say the OLED Steam Deck is good option for those that don't mind playing 9th gen games at a lower framerate and resolution if they just want more battery life. I hope Windows handhelds next year get OLED screen options. The screen on the Legion Go is pretty amazing though, I hope to not see a side by side comparison with the OLED Steam Deck though because it might ruin me in wanting to get it.

Yeah it looks like it's more than just a deck with an OLED. It's a more refined model overall and it seems and a teeny bit more powerful.

I still wouldn't upgrade to it but if I was in the market for a new Deck I think I would pay the extra to get the OLED model with the extra QOL bits.

I saw in the IGN review it had around an extra hour of battery life playing CP2077. That's really good. Still need to look at the DF video though.

If you have a pc, you can emulate everything, and not suffer the 17fps standard of Switch titles.

A 2D game, so the Switch actually handle a video game for once.

I just watched the DF video. HDR just works on PC games and Valve got this right first try.

On desktop PCs, 7 years since the first HDR10 PC game in 2016, it is still a PITA according to DF (and also in my experience).

Valve is doing an excellent job with the consolification of PC gaming.

My brother already had a Deck and upgraded (travels overseas a lot for work), and is enjoying it so far. The actual integration of Windows is nice, as opposed to Steam's offering with shitty drivers.

That's pretty neat of Valve. Sounds like they really have their ear to the ground, know what people want.

Still...kind of odd they didn't do this from the get-go, feels like the Deck hasn't been around long enough to warrant a "mid-gen refresh" or whatever you want to call this.

@Pedro said:

Does the Deck run their own OS or something? Is it the "Big Picture Mode" sort of that is found on Steam?
