Not that useful for me, I don't leave my computer on unless I'm out for 30 mins-1 hour.tagyhag
I leave my computer on all the time.
It's probably horrible for the components and my electric bill, but it's sure convenient in the short term!
I never leave my computer on when I'm away, so I wouldn't use this.

I've actually heard it's better for your components, but your electricity bill would definitely go up :D

It has to do with the constant expanding, and contracting from heating up and cooling down.
But in reality it's not that much of a threat really. I've never had hardware in any of my computers fail depsite using them for years and years, and at that point you'll upgrade anyways.
Because starting and stopping the current wears them down, I assume? I had thought of that, but it sounded like some bad rationalization on my part.[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"][QUOTE="Raymundo_Manuel"]

It also used to be because harddrive heads would rest on the platters when you turned them off, so they would wear out a lot faster from being turned on and off.
Neither has been an issue for the past decade or so though.

You don't even put it on sleep/hibernate?lol listen to this bloke.. They're just games... "Hello wife! Put down that dinner and grab me Crysis 3!!"I have no use for this. I just call my wife and tell her to start a purchase/download. If it's something extremely important like a new game launch, I'll be home using a sick day anyway.

I've been known to take a day off for a game, but I straight-up admit it and take vacation instead of taking a sick day. As long as my projects come in on time and I don't defer any meetings for it, no one really cares how I spend my time off.just don't pause my downloads while i'm in-game, it's all i ask. having to minimize the game and go to the downloads and say "NO STEAM, I DON'T WANT YOU TO STOP" every time is annoying, not to mention sometimes the download page gets broken sometimes when you do that.BrunoBRSXD i wish there was an option for that too. Playing an offline game while DLing shouldn't be an issue, and hell...I have enough bandwidth to download massive files while still in most online games

You don't even put it on sleep/hibernate? Lord no.... Maybe if this was the dial up age in which downloads could take many hours if not days to get anything downloaded, I may have found this useful.. At the end of the day if its something I preordered, I can preload it the majority of the time before its released.. If not I can spend the hour or so (or less) downloading.. While doing soemthing else.. sSubZerOo
Um even in places like new zealand where we have both data caps and relativly slow speeds this will be a neat feature.
Also it means at work, if I see a game I have been anticipating is ready to download, then I can activate it and come home so I can play it straight away.
Gotta look at it in perspective

Anticipating, meaning.. You preordered it.. On steam every game I have seen you can preload it before the game is even released..Hmm, I usually let my PC sleep when I'm out. I wonder if you could remotely wake it up using this, I know right now when I log into steam on my laptop when steam was running on my desktop but its asleep, my desktop starts itself to ask me to re-enter my steam password.
For now I have a better way to go though, I download games onto my laptop while I'm at University since I get like 3.3mb/s download speed there, then back the steam games up on a external hard drive and restore it onto my desktop. I avoid approaching my bandwidth cap using this method, and have games ready to play really quickly after I get home.
Sounds like a Steam-only version of Remote Desktop. Cool, I guess, but I can take full control of my desktop anywhere I can pick up a WIFI signal.

Red Orchestra 2 over here wasn't viable for that, and I remember having to come back from school and having to wait ages for it to download and install, meaning I had to play it the next day.
It's not a huge feature in itself, but all these cool little gadgets on the phone are quite handy
My computer sleeps when I am gone.
I'd use the app to buy stuff if there were more reasonably priced games on Steam. $5 or less and I'll consider a game on there.
Pug-Nasty
Wow... you are only interested in games if they are $5?
On point, this is great. I leave my computer on unless I'll be gone for longer than a day.

At least the data caps have been getting much better over the last few years, it seems like every other month they're increasing our cap :P[QUOTE="OB-47"][QUOTE="sSubZerOo"]... I'm also keen on when Fibre optic comes here. Though that will be a long time

Really? Mine only went from 60gb to 120gb. Yeah, fibre will be good and yeah, they're doing hospitals and schools first and as far as I know, I haven't even seen any work started on getting them connected. I guess we'll have to wait closer to the 2019 date it's meant to be finished :PYour computer needs to be on for this, right? Way to drain electricity and up your bills.Hexagon_777my pc is always on, in fact all 5 of them i eat electricity for breakfast
but this is useless to me

My interest in games is not tied to price, just my willingness to buy them.
But I'm just talking about PC games here, since this is about Steam. I'm willing to pay more for a ps3 game, since I tend to enjoy them a lot more.
