And we thought Valve could do no wrong. Have they done wrong?

Im just worried this will turn into a DLC machine, but Valve claims it wont. You can now purchase in-game content in Team Fortress 2 with real money that you pre-load into your Steam Wallet.

LINK

Don't worry, the Mann Co. Store is not some new way for Valve to gouge players, and Valve doesn't plan to make players pay for future updates and other content. ****updates, maps, and other content will be distributed in the same way they always have (i.e. free). "Segregating players into groups that can't play together, based on who bought what, is something we'd like to avoid."

Nothing wrong with giving people the option. I'd only get annoyed if they start charging for items that can't be obtained through regular gameplay.

Considering that players can get most of the buyable items traditionally, I don't see it as an issue. It's simply an official way for players to take the easy way out. (i.e. avoiding people selling items over ebay)

Valve acknowledged that some people might want a more convenient way to buy content for the many games on their platform that offer DLC, including their own!? I'm all a-flutter. Someone fetch the smelling salts before I faint.

I agree but we know one thing always leads to another. 6 month DLC all the way down to day 1 DLC. $5 map pack to $15 map pack. This just seems like a path that will take the wrong turn one day.

You know how the store is full of errors during the massive sales and sometimes you can't buy anything for hours?

That's reason enough for me to use Steam Wallet...

This just allows people who don't have the time to play to get the DLC by paying. I don't see a problem here, its not like you have to pay to get this stuff.

Uh, Steam has always been capable of being a DLC machine. Granted the wallet potentially makes microtransactions less of a pain in the ass (if you're the kind of person who doesn't like having several dozen $0.99 charges on their credit card bill), but this isn't some shocking change to the service.

Not a big deal. If just a option for those who don't play alot of TF2 but want the items or people who can't wait for getting the item. I think I might dive in and get a hat for one of my favorite clas.ses.:P
