How can demos be better ? Steam has dedicated servers which I will take over XBL client crap anyday. I will give you the TV shows, but the community on Steam is catching up to XBL. Achievements are starting to show up and lets not forget Steam is free.

meh..not necessarily. Better community? That is VERY debatable. THeir forums subcategorize to each game so you get a lot of dedicated DOD:S, CS:S CS 1.6 COD, COD, etc etc players that go to good servers. Steam offers very seamless FULL GAME purchases and free weekends to demo FULL games. So it is debatable about "better demos." I do think xbl is better executed as a multimedia/console friendly service. However, I think the steam community is great. If I had to choose between xbl on steam I would probably choose steam because I like the games better. However, I think XBL is better from a software standpoint. I guess I am saying it is not so cut and dry.

The only thing Steam has ever given me would be Audiosurf (which is, by the way, Steam's best downloadable game. Ever).

Yes steam is awesome (and is the future of PC gaming), however XBL is better. Steam also does not work with every game, and sometimes screws up mods and stuff like that. However, it keeps improving exponentially, and I can't wait to see how Steam ends up 5 years down the road

newsflash here, Steam isnt responsible for that stuff. Sure it provides some mods and dedicated servers, but Mods as a whole are just a feature that PC Gaming has, not just steam.

I request that you all dig, it was well publicized, posted about, but I cannot be bothered to show you that Steam>Xbox Live even in terms of userbase, because a lot of you are trying to fenangle some bogus junk about the "community" being better on XBL (laughable considering how frequently Live users complain about the prepubescents and screaming, racist goons....read Gamespot's Halo 3 review for more).

Precisely. Everything is so easy and quick. I can't tell you how many times I bring up my xbox live dashboard and it's lagging like crazy (and no theres nothing wrong with my internet). Anytime in steam just hit shift+tab and the whole community is right there for you.

And you can do this with any game. I doesn't matter if it isn't officialy part of steam,just hit 'add non-steam game' and it's there for you,with all the same features.

if you have ever had steam (im sure you havent) the community profiles are soo much better than XBL, i have an xbox and i hate paying for live for the crap i get, while in steam i get community profiles, i can see servers while im not in game, chat with multipul frieends without having to join the game its just a much more mature experence than XBL, demos movies and videos are secondary things that arent really needed, and i dont really need them soo..

that said XBL is good for what its worth, but Steam is MUCH better...

I was about to piss on Painball'z thread here until I saw this big pile of steaming fail...

First off, a better community? Didn't Adam Sesseler make a three and a half minute podcast trashing the horrible trainwreck that is the community on Xbox Live. What is more, everything else you mentioned is just as equal on Steam as it is on Xbox Live. I mean seriously, how can videos be better? And, don't mention HD, because any 17 in monitor will support 1080p like resolutions.
