So a pretty cool site i found while browsing GAF and wanted to share on SW. SteamSpy is a site that uses an algorithm to calculate the amount of owners, players, play time, etc, from the Steam database. The process is similar to the used in the ars technica article.
It even gives you details on the geography of each title by country.
However, keep in mind that there's always a margin of error. Under the amount of owners/players, there'll a +/- xxxxxxx value. This refers to the margin of error. In some cases, it'll be simply wrong, has the algorithm doesn't take private profiles into account. More here http://steamspy.com/about
Regardless, it seems that its relatively accurate., since H1Z1 just sold 1 million, and SS gives you 950k with 50k margin Really interesting info here, from the high 5 million sales of Borderlands 2 to the low 300k sales of DMC 4 (weird).
Once again, remember that not all data is correct. (DA Origins only at 500K ?)
