Im being honest this is a pretty nice idea.Thats just me tho i think, all im going to say is PSP2 w glasses? altho the power consumption ewww.
the blue man group is going to come over and watch tv? well i guess that's ok as long as they get the damn cable box up off the floor.sony has probably the smartest idea for gaming in the future seriously.

So if I understand this image correctly, each person needs their own machine. You have two people playing games (apparently pacman and space invaders) and one person watching a movie. And there are two PS3's and a DVD player hokked up to the TV.
you know killzone 3 wouldnt be easy to see on a tinny sketch
[QUOTE="LegatoSkyheart"]
That's totally not going to work.

I dunno. It must be somewhat within the realm of possibility. It's definately an interesting idea.
I don't think it will. Although you maybe able to see your Game or Movie, you'll still be able to see the other image(s).

Erm... no... The glasses sync up with the picture you're supposed to see, so you only see the image you're supposed to see, BUT if you take off your glasses, it'll be a garbled mess since your eyes can't single out frames that fast.[QUOTE="lundy86_4"]

Well the images alternate. So everytime an image that isn't intended for your eyes, the glasses will shutter out (both shutters close simultaneously rather than alternately).
Therefore you won't have a chance to see the other person's image. Will it cause some sort of lag? I'm not sure, as I don't understand the technology well enough.

I find it hard to believe that this is going to work. I think you'll still be able to see the other images.

No one ever believed that humans will be able to fly over 100 years ago but look at what happened :P.

Yes because YOU understand the technology so well, better than the people at Sony working on it who are investing money into trying to pull this off. Yup it won't work they're just wasting their money for an idea that only might work, they should listen to you because you know better than them .Interesting idea, but a weird time to be introducing it since more and more devs seem to be completely ignoring split screen.bobbetybobPerhaps this new tech could bring split screen back. Man that'd be great.
Yeah this look great, we can wear those crowns you get out of christmas crackers too then the image will be complete...
Would probably be cheaper to just buy 3 tvs because this wont be cheap btw.

Why is it that hard to believe? It works the same way as normal 3D TV's instead of showing alternate frames switching from eye to eye it shows alternate frames switching from one persons glasses to another. The only reason this wouldn't work is because the pixel response time is too slow.

I'm glad some people understand lol.Yeah but I still hate wearing glasses so I'm not investing in a 3D TV any time soon.

SapSacPrime
room is money too. No body has place for 3 40 inch HD TVs. Also it makes more fun to play with your friends site on site talking about the game rather than sitting back on back.

It means you need to own multiple PS3s...

Stereoscopic 3D works, so no.Do you need multiple PS3s to use 3D? No.[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"][QUOTE="goblaa"]It means you need to own multiple PS3s...goblaa
For using one screen to display multiple games personally for each player you do...according to this patent.
And you found it necessary to point this out because? The point of the technology is that multiple people can use a screen without PiP.[QUOTE="goblaa"][QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"] Do you need multiple PS3s to use 3D? No.windsquid9000

Exactly, the situation in the picture is probably not something many people will do (though I'm sure people who share a TV with someone else would find it useful). The more practical application is in local multi games.well it would help for local competitive multiplayer
local co-op it would end up hurting
as for anything else, like tv? i dunno, would we need headphones or something? the idea is cool anyways
Is this a sign of local multiplayer returning? Geez, I hope not....Elian2530WHAT? WHY? You're insane.
Wouldn't it be 1000x timesmore efficient to just put little screen in the glasses themselves? This looks over engineered.
DaBrainz
this is sort of what i was thinking.
Another great, innovative idea...looks neat.
The applications apply from local MP games to full on LAN parties using just one screen, incredible.
I have quite a few parties at my house, so I'm pleased if this idea comes to fruition.:P
SolidTy
So we can all come over and have a fat all System Wars rager? Good idea. PARTY AT TY'S HOUSE EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

well at least they brought their own tvs.
Regardless of this working or not, I think this is a stupid idea seeing how it completly obliterates any social interaction between people while playing games or watching TV together.
