I had a Wii U.
Mario 3D World was great, but none of my friends enjoyed it much when we tried multiplayer. I was done with it once I got all the stuff and beat all the levels with Mario.
Windwaker HD wasn't necessary, as original Windwaker plays just fine on my Gamecube and the graphics didn't need the update.
Mario Kart 8 had some great tracks, and the online worked well, but the battle mode was much worse. After a while I wasn't as interested in playing it anymore, and again I noticed friends weren't enjoying it as much as I thought we would. The Gamecube Mario Kart is still the go to.
Super Smash added new characters and stuff, but Melee is still the best physics wise. I do wish I could play as MegaMan and Pacman but not worth $60 to me. And I don't collect figurines, Amiibo is not appealing to me.
Pikmin 3 was stunning art wise, but the gameplay itself was not that fun.
Mario Party was at its best when it was on the Gamecube, and the Gamecube controller was the best to use and still is.
NSMBU/LU is more of the same. It's not better or worse.
Bayonetta 2/1 are great
Wonderful 101 is great
I tried to show my support for 3rd parties on Wii U. I bought Zombi U, CODBO2, Injustice, Assassins Creed 3, and Batman Arkham City, despite knowing they would be inferior to the other versions. And what did I get? Practically no 3rd party support anymore. Thanks.
I will miss out on Yoshi's Wooly World, Starfox, and Zelda.
So what's my point? There are some great games on WiiU, and more are coming, but the GC has a great library that can give you your Nintendo fix for single player and local multiplayer.
