With so many great-looking FPS coming soon, its hard to forget that almost none will be revolutionary in their genre. Why is that? Go over the facts: KZ2, madly hyped by Cows as the king of FPSs, is nothing more than a run-and-gun game w/ pretty graphics. Look at the previews and the hands-ons of various sites. The most that can be pulled off with this game is fun gameplay & awesome graphics, a great combination, certainly AA-AAA, but nothing to pee in your pants over. Other shooters, like CoD4, already do what KZ2 is trying to achieve.

Crysis is a mixed bag. On the one hand,it looks to be one of the best FPSs ever made. On the other, the question rears its ugly head: who cares? With tons of great FPSs out on the market, are these upped graphics going to revolutionize the gameplay? Probably not. Halo 3 has online. CoD4 has realism. More and more FPSs on the market doesn't mean anything if all they do is up the graphics. What Crysis has to do is deliver on gameplay. Just like KZ2, it is a pretty game, but apparently w/ the same gameplay we have today. And, if that is so, whats the point? Like pretty graphics? Go outside! Want good graphics AND great, SOMEWHAT new gameplay? Yep, thats what I want too. I don't know why these games are so hyped up, so you guys better hope the deliver

I agree neither revolutionize a thing... graphics have been done before and so have physics so there is nothing the "genre" can copy of them to make it revolutionary because its all been done before.

Before anyone say's "teh Suit" I will have to put my Yahtzee hat on and say the suit represents "power ups" that enhance the players abilities or "exadurate" some to the extend of making you feel stronger and unstopable for a short period and well they have all been done before.

I use to argue about how saturated the gaming market is with FPS. However, I wasn't complaining backin the 90's when fighters were the same. Every genre has it day, right? When the time comes a new genre will be on top.

The suit thing is old. Even if the game don't revolutionize anything Crysis still looks to play awesome with so many physics, and the FREEDOM in it. Something done before I know, but nowadays it's still something cool IMO.

Revolutionary FPSs are games like Doom, Quake, Half-Life, Deus Ex, System Shock, and such. There hasn't been a revolutionary shooter released in this decade. Crysis won't be revolutionary, but it is evolutionary. It takes almost everything to the next level, but it doesn't bring anything vastly new to the table. And as far as Killzone 2, well, if Halo wasn't revolutionary then KZ2 certainly isn't. Maybe by console standards, though ignoring PC shooters out of all genres is just dumb.

Wow, so uninformed it's actually funny. CoD4 realisitc?:lol::lol::lol::lol: Play ArmA or Operation Flashpoint, then come back and say that. CoD4's SP isn't even as good as CoD1's.........

Crysis recieved a 98% from PC Gamer, who are VERY harsh on reviews. It has tied two other games for the highest rating ever given by them. Read the quotes from the review. He says that from now on, he's going to look at FPS's as pre-Crysis, and post-Crysis. The reviewer says that the standards for FPS's have just been brought up to a whole new level or something along those lines........but yeah, "CrYSiS IS TEH SUXXORZ!!!!!"

The problem with FPS's today is that developers are so focused on either the graphics (Crysis, Killzone) or multiplayer (Halo 3, CoD 4) that they let the singleplayer stagnate. It seems like everyone just sits around waiting for Valve to make the next Half Life so they can copy that. However, that said Far Cry 2 sounds like it will be revolutionary with its AI and free-roaming gameplay.

Exactly. It isn't necessarily revolutionary, but evolutionary. People seem to get these terms mixed up. Crysis seems to be the next big step forward in the FPS genre.

No one here is claiming that the game isnt going to deliver!

But as an FPS fan to me an FPS is all about the guns what the guns do and the pace of the game... Crysis was slow, the guns felt pathetic and take endless amounts of bullets to kill enemy AI unless you through a chair on them :|... or shoot the in the head as you do in zombie games.

But all that aside crysis will undoubtably score high here... as all reviews rate games Graphics >>> gameplay >>> Fun; and know before some one say's lair!... is glitches are different and aren't in the neither of the catagories.

What about all the other popular genres. Not much is revolutionised there. JRPGs for example still have the same basis as they did a decade ago.

Not every game needs to revolutionise its genre. I have Crysis and I can honestly say it is even better than Far Cry and the AI is really really good. As for the graphics and physics in the game, I found those really created a much more immersive game. You will see that when you play it.

I noticed that a pistol/ rifle shot will kill an enemy in one shot (if you aim for the head). Yeh sometimes it takes 2 SG shots to the chest to kill the enemies (although i don't think this is unreasonable) butthrowing objects at them is def overpowered.

With so many great-looking FPS coming soon, its hard to forget that almost none will be revolutionary in their genre. Why is that? After playing the demo, gameplay wise, Crysis isn't revolutionary. Graphically, it will revolutionize gaming possibly IF they distribute that engine. It is VERY impressive. Unreal has nothing on it, course unreal engine has nothing on Source either:P
