First, you're wrong about it not being a justifiable excuse.

Second, it's more like 360 rushed rather than PS3 delayed (well, it was delayed, but you have a quality product and no one can say otherwise). Look at the rings.

Even though Microsoft releasing the 360 earlier was a great strategy and one of the reasons they're ahead from Sony, I feel that Sony is way behind because of their own doing. People seem to forget or didn't even know that the PS3 had to delay its launch because of diode problems. This failure was also a reason why the PS3 didn't have a worldwide launch like Sony promised. So yes, releasing the 360 helped but in reality Sony couldn't help itself. Sony owned itself, self-ownage.

Things Break...

Every new electronics introduced will always have its problems. So putting defects aside, a couple of reasons why PS3 is still dead last is because of price $499 - $599 and blu-ray. So once again, Sony owned itself, self-ownage. Who knows what the future may bring but right now Sony is dead last this video gaming gen.
