After playing this game since it came out and still addicted to it, Iam ready to crown Street Fighter 4 asthe best fighter ever made. Others have nostalgic value, and series such as Virtua Fighter are certainly more advanced and complex, but all ythings considered Street Fighter 4 is the most balanced, competitive, and outright fun fighting game ever created.

Eh out of the SF series, I preferred Alpha 3 or SFIII. 4 was Capcom being too safe with the series, in my thoughts.

Besides, more fighters are coming that are giving SF a run for its money. Mainly stuff like KOF and Blazblue.

ahem....I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

SF4 was poopy alongside it's riduculous Seth boss fight. Most over powered boss in fighting game history

Blazblue already beat it this generation, so how can it be the best of "all time"?

Killzone 2 is the best fighting game of all time.Prydes

WIN

seriously though it is an amazing game, not my favourite of all time but certainly among the top. i still play it all the time after 200+ hours, and the play is still competitive. usually in fighting games, somebody emerges in the local group as the dominant player after a while, but in like five months sfiv is still very competitive.

ahem....I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

nobody should care about the single player component of a fighting game. its like complaining about the single player mode in tribes.

Street Fighter 2 Turbo is my favorite in the series, and could be my favorite fighter of all time too.

meh SF 4 was good I guess.

My favorite fighting game of all time was Ultimate MK 3though, I love playing it still on the XBLA.

I'm glad someone made this thread, because now I can some out and say that I have no idea what it is so great about this game. I rented it yesterday to give it a try, and I think Soul Calibur is infinitely better. I would much rather play Soul Calibur IV than Street Figher IV. Why? Because you actually RUN in Soul Calibur. I felt so restricted in Street Fighter IV, which was the biggest negative. I also liked the 3D aspect of Soul Calibur more. You can move to different sides to dodge attacks. Sure, you can say I like simplistic fighers or something like that, but I enjoy the hell out of Soul Calibur more than Street Fighter IV. Does anyone getting what I'm saying? These two major things, plus the weapons, crazy-ass characters, and revealing costumes, all make Soul Calibur a much better experience. Is it just me? This figher seems better suited for me, and I got bored of Street Fighter IV quickly. It doesn't have as much options, either. There's nothing like the campaign mode from Soul Calibur II. There's the versus, arcade, and challenge mode... and that's it, unless you unlock more stuff I don't know about.

That made me lol.

But I get what you're saying. SF series has always been more about spacing than flashy stuff. Sure, some of the supers look really cool, but overall it's caterred towards a closed-off audience.

The only fighting games I own are Dragonball Z: Taiketsu (which I don't really like) and Super Smash Bros Brawl. I must say, you are talking very highly of SF4. I find Brawl to be a nearly perfect game (with some minor flaws here and there). You are pretty much telling me that SF4 is a perfect game. I'm intrigued.

Are you sure that there are absolutely no flaws in Street Fighter 4 whatsoever? That this game can last for months on end? It would help if you described some of the aspects of Street Fighter 4. I myself have seen very little footage of the game. To me, it looks a lot like a Dragonball Z fighting game.

Virtua Fighter destroys it. And Soul Calibur probably isn't as deep, but it's always been massively fun for me.

I'm not sure there can be a best fighting game of all time. There are so many fighters that have so much depth and take ages to master. If you haven't mastered a fighting game, your opinion might as well be worthless.

If by nothing special you mean there's nothing else like it. It's easier to get into than most other fighting games, and yet also more competitive than both Soul Calibur IV and Street Fighter IV combined.

While Brawl I would agree with you (seriously, slipping? WTH Nintendo?) Melee was very complex with what they had. I'm sure most players went back to Melee anyway.

I bet you couldn't even explain how it is broken. And there's no reason why you would get bored with it over any other fighter.

The characters are WAY unbalanced, the single player is pretty boring, online sux, graphics suck, etc...

Street Fighter IV > Soul Calibur IV >>> SSBB

Sagat and Zangief. Don't let either one land an ultra on you because that pretty much means the round is over for you.

But then yeah, no game is perfect, but SF4 is a really good game to last for months.

Bashing Soul Calibur IV!? What!? I was simply stating why it has such a broad appeal, and used Soul Calibur IV as a comparison. I enjoy both, though. They are my favorite fighting game series, and I have been a fan of both since the very beginning of when they first started. Well, for Soul Calibur, I played that only in arcades until number II came out for the GameCube, but I did play that game in the arcades a lot!

Yeah, I agree. I also have stronger roots with Soul Calibur, so that may be a part of it. Plus, using Link in any fighting equals instant win!

SFIV will be hated because that's the cool thing to do these days, hate on games and talk about how much things fail now.

I don't really like fighting games so this doesn't matter to me, just funny seeing people say dumb things like "its SFII with better graphics"

[QUOTE="chadwick1343"] Honestly I cannot think of one flaw in the fighting system within SF42-10-08

It might seem flawless, or it could be just preference.

I have heard that grabbing is overpowered but that's pretty much it.

I haven't given the game too much time yet, but when I constantly hear the phrase "Ken Fighter 4" then there's a problem with it.

Maybe the game needs more D? Dee-jay and Dudley!

[QUOTE="DeathScape666"]I'm glad someone made this thread, because now I can some out and say that I have no idea what it is so great about this game. There's the versus, arcade, and challenge mode... and that's it, unless you unlock more stuff I don't know about.DeathScape666

So you think SSBB is the best fighting game ever?

I remember a thread where you compared SCIV and SSBB, and you bashed SCIV...:|

Bashing Soul Calibur IV!? What!? I was simply stating why it has such a broad appeal, and used Soul Calibur IV as a comparison. I enjoy both, though. They are my favorite fighting game series, and I have been a fan of both since the very beginning of when they first started. Well, for Soul Calibur, I played that only in arcades until number II came out for the GameCube, but I did play that game in the arcades a lot!

Ok, Do you still play SCIV. If so, let's fight if you want. :P

 . I don't even recognize it as a true fighter...

It's SO unbalanced and broken + it gets boring FAST!

jakehouston88

I bet you couldn't even explain how it is broken. And there's no reason why you would get bored with it over any other fighter.

The characters are WAY unbalanced, the single player is pretty boring, online sux, graphics suck, etc...

Street Fighter IV > Soul Calibur IV >>> SSBB

;)

-Metaknight is unbalanced. This is true. As for everyone else, not so much. And if I'm not mistaken, SFIV and SCIV both have single player modes in which it's just one fight after another, with very little story. Online? It could be less laggy, but it works. Graphics are some of the best on the system. It may just be your preference, but it proves that no one fighting game is factually better than another.

Unfortunately, I do not own Soul Calibur IV. :( But I play it all the time at my friend's house! So yes, I really have put an incredible amount of time in to the game, but never picked it up. I didn't own a PS3 at the time when it first came out, and just lost interest as time went on. I most definitely will pick it up soon, but I am waiting on a deal first. 30 dollars seems good to me. I have II and III, though, and I really like using Link in II. I also like the GameCube controls better than the Dual Shock 2 and 3 controls due to the main button being in the center with all the surrounding secondary buttons, but that may just be me.

Almost every fighter has their abused characters though.

Kilik Calibur 4 (SC4)

Ninja or Ninja 4(DOA4 since the ninja characters are the most used)

JinBlue (Blazblue)

Super Metaknight Brothers Brawl(SSBB)

Yeah I know they're a stretch, but tis still funny :P

Yes, OP is right. Street Fighter 4 is the best fighting game of all time. It brings casuals back to a genre that was once dead while still maintaining it's hardcore audience. It takes what was once considered the best balanced fighting game, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and rebalances it to perfection so guys that used to have problems with Hadouken spammers have multiple ways of dealing with them now. Even at its basically rudimentary level, people can still understand the rock-paper-scissors essense of the game without even know a special move. What I'll do now is pit it against other fighters and show you how it's better. III Strike - mastering the parry system instantly made the other player vastly better against his opponent if he didn't know how to. Overall a deeper game than Street Fighter IV but too hardcore for the masses. Alpha - ISM's made the game too hardcore also. So many characters threw off the balance of the game as well. Another game loved by the hardcore and shunned by the casuals Tekken, DoA, Soul Calibur, Virtual Fighter - At a casual level, the game results into button mashing, while high levels of play boils down to not the better player, but who knows the most dial-a-combos. A fighting game shouldn't be decided by the guy who stays on the internet more, it should be won by the more strategic player. Street Fighter IV wins because you can easily beat a guy that knows all the special moves and super combos with regular moves. Smash Bros - lol Blazblue - fun game, but let's at least see if the game can last a month with people still talking about it. What hurts it is that it's the new kid on the block. Ken, Ryu, and Chun Li are icons that have been around for 20 years. Will Ragna, Jin, and "Boobie Lady" be around as long? Who knows?

Soul Calibur is a button masher. Street Fighter IV is a very deep game, and unless you have some kind of experience with the SF series, you probably wont enjoy it much. My friends thought the same when I showed them the game. SFIV is just not very accessible. Soul Calibur is a very easy game to pick up and play (button masher). Its a very tough game, but once you get a hang of it, and become good, it becomes amazing.

I'm sorry that you have the wrong perception of smash bros. You should try it sometime. As it stands, a lol doesnt hold up in justifying anything. If that is the case, it should be easy to explain in words how it doesn't hold up against other fighters.

not even the best in series let alone best fighting game. ALPHA series by far was best series.Dibdibdobdobo
 :lol: Your joking right? Although this isn't a very good example, the first minute of this video shows how flawed and "cheap" SF3 is

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLCh3Kkyx8o

The comboes dirt easy to do...

And SF4 is fantastic although i did enjoy SF lll much more.
