I've only played Tekken in an arcade, never played Street Fighter, and LOVE Soul Calibur (so I'd have to say SC is my favorite). I was wandering, what are other Gamespoters favorite fighter. (please keep the spotlight on these three games/series -also this is just my opinion so please don't write hate mail to my or other peoples comments :D)

SF4>SC4

Can't say anything about Tekken 6 though, it has been out for arcades for nearly 2 years, but I haven't played it.

People will call Soul Calibur (II, III, IV) a button masher. It really isn't, especially on a competitive level of play. You can't even win with button mashing like you can in a game like DOA. Seeing your Amy avatar, you probably play a lot (especially knowing that she was the character to win the first few official tournaments). :P I stopped playing awhile ago. I was quite good with Cervantes myself (and not one of those kids you see online who just spam teleports). I had his frames and combos down pretty much the best I could.

I love SF, but Tekken has always struck me as dull and boring. SF is a different sty1e of fighter though. It's almost incomparable as the 3D movement plane actually does come into play in the other games. I'm going to go with Soul Calibur out of the bunch. SF and SC have always had characters that are actually memorable, unlike many other fighting games.

while I dont want to fall into the predjudice for this thread, I must say I like Blazblu the best...

but Im guessing Tekken 6 cuz SF4 was meh and SC4 imo was the worst in the series, it was just pathetically bad. (imo of course a lot of people like it.)

I love SF4! I have been meaning to try out Blazblu for some time now since I have heard nothing but good things from it. I have never been a Soul Calibur fan so I don't like SC4. As for Tekken 6 I am positive that it will be amazing, but I haven't played a Tekken game in YEARS.

Actually I'm quite good withAmy, but I'm best with Nightmare. (the reason Amy's my pic is that it's the best pic I could find of a SC character on Google, lol;)) I do like that everyone so far has seemed to back up their game of choice with facts, so here's mine for SC:Not saying SC has better graphics than SF, but SC has really good graphics, an awesome story/history, a lot of characters that all fight (almost) completely different, levels are creative, and definitely agree that button mashing dosen't seem to work while playing SC.

Actually I thought the story in SC4 was to say the least lacking and way too short.

It was short and too easy (well, the story mode was). The mode that creates the entire backstory for the series was the Tower of Souls, which goes by a different name and offers different challenges/gameplay in the other games in the series. I think the world they created with each character's backstory and the tie-ins to regular history make the series more interesting.

Yeah I was expecting a huge indeepth story at least like SC3 but it fell rather short. I also think it could of used team battles or a coop mode

Actually, I was kinda dissapointed with SC4's story and story mode. I loved the Weapons Master mode in SC2. I do like that the characters seem to have realistic backrounds and ties with other characters to give playing the story mode a meaning. :D

Yeah the story mode seems to be shorter that arcade mode, lol (maybe I shouldn't be laughing) Also I don't like that they got rid of Team Battle, considering that Tower of Lost Souls was almost entirely team-based. Oh well, I guess we can only hope that it gets put back considering most reviews stated that this was a/the major flaw in the game.

Out of those Street Fighter IV, but for the best SF game I would go with SF 3 Third Strike and for the best Soul Caliber game, it would be the original

I agree with you there. SC2 was my favourite SC.

SF4>SC4

And noTekken, I'm not into Tekken series. If Tekken 6 get great reviews I might consider getting it.

Even though I'm probably the worst BlazBlue player ever. I choose BlazBlue. It's a nice change of pace from SFIV and SCIV.

I'm gonna go with SF4. It wasn't as bad I as I made myself thing. I wont judge Tekken until it comes out. Most fighters this gen have been below my expectations.

OK, I want to go more indepth here.

I loved Street Fighter 4 because it's just pure fun. It doesn't matter if you're playing competivively or not, it's just....fun. The lack of a bunch of systems(there's only two meters to worry about, and there's that Focus system) does help, because it makes the game mainly about stragery and timing. However, the game does lack depth, because a lot of the fighters' special moves reuse the same motions.

Soul Calibur 4 is an interesting game. I loved the extras, particularly the character creation mode(seriously, some of the options in the mode can unintentionally make the game a fashion show, especially with the female characters and Lizardman) and Tower of Lost Souls mode. The fighting is actually good, but it does reward button mashing a little too much, and it's just not as polished as it could be.

You would first have to decide whether you like 3d or 2d Fighting Games more. If you like 3d then go with either Tekken or Soul Calibur. (Personally I'd choose T6) If you love good old 2d then Street Fighter, Blazblue or King of Fighters will be fine ;P // King of Fighters isn't as bad as others say. Well it lacks all the Single Player Experience but srsly.. you don't play Fighter because of Story, Bosses or an awesome Arcade Mode. You play it because you can compete with other players.

I'm pretty bad when it comes to fighting games but I always had fun with Soul Calibur series.

In fact, my favorite one in the whole series has to Soul Edge. It was the first fighting game I spend to many sleepless nights with friends and the music completely blow me away. I haven't had such a strong feeling in later series. It seems Soul Edge developers had a lot of passion for the title.

I definitely prefer SCIV over any fighting game today (other then upcoming Dissidia and already great Naruto: Ninja Storm).

I'm actually looking forward to PSP version of Soul Calibur. I have a feeling Kratos will be fantastic character to play with. ;)
