I decided to go with SFV and SFIV Ultra in the end, and I was blown away by SFV gameplay.

The game runs as smooth as silk on PC at its highest settings so far. No crashes.

PROs

1. The first fighting game for me where online actually works day 1. Pretty much f*cking amazing. I have experimented only minimum lag so far, and community is HUGE.

I tried other fighting games on PC before and here's the results:

MK IX - Good performance but awful lag. Dead community. Playable only in single player.

MKX - Bad performance. Laggy. But playable.

Gods Among US - The most awful performance ever. Horrible lag. Unplayable shit. The game is 4-year old and it's a ps3 port but performance is still BAAAAD. Like very bad. Probably Arkam Knight of fighting games.

SFV has a very good online performance. I can actually perform combos without freezes. Online is very addictive. I have never become so addictive to an online game since Star Craft 2. The casual crowd is very friendly. You can easily find an opponent of a similar skill or higher. Sometimes you beat the shit of a guy, but sometimes you run into a "rookie" that performs a 40x combo on you and you go K.O without touching the ground lol

2. The first game where you can actually kick the shit out of cows. Community is that big because it's actually cross-platform. I played 12 hours online so far, all weekend long. No wishes to return to vs CPU after that. Most of the fights were against Sony gamers. 10/10 only for this XD

3. It's actually plays better on a keyboard as the game needs 6 face buttons. Obviously fight stick is still recommended. But after the fight stick the keyboard follows. Many combos are easier to perform on keyboard than on a regular controller due to the keyboards key precision. The only bad thing is that keys are not remappable yet. still much better than playing the game with a regular xbox or dualshock controller.

4. Gameplay is not actually so combos oriented like in other fighting games. What matters most is timing, blocking and strategy, and using your abilities at the right time. You can easily beat most of your opponents by using your main powers smartly. Using skillfully block and punch power of the Russian fighter I passed through so many combos spammers lol

So my recommendation so far, go for it. Online play only makes it worthy and is so casually friendly. Just keep in mind that you are getting an early access. You can get it for 46 bucks on GMG though.

Verdict

Kick the shit out of cows. 10/10

Just wait man. You're gonna be called Capcom's bitch, a corporate shill, a SF fanboy, so on and so forth. You're not allowed to like this game.

@GarGx1: it's a blast for an early access lol. Online gameplay is very good. Well mostly because it's actually playable on PC compared to other ports.

It's the best PC port of a fighting game I've played. Usually I stay away from PC ports but I'm glad I went with PC on this one. It runs smooth as silk on my rig without a hitch on ultra settings.

there was a big keboard following on Steam with SFIV. Supposedly some combos can be even performed faster and better /w keyboard.

Anyway keyboard worked better for me than my xbox one controller so far.

Obviously i would like to get a arcade stick down the road but they are hard to get by in the retail.

They are pretty much identical, except performance on PC is very good for me playing on ultra. It's just hard to come by with a smooth online experience for fighting games on PC. Therefore 10/10. There is no more frustrating thing than having lag in a fighting game. With lag, combos just don't work as expected. I noticed this when playing other fighting games that combos that I easily perform during my solo session or vs CPU are usually very hard to carry out during online fights as bloody lag makes you miss the time frames for their execution. SFV so far was the only game where combos executions were smooth mostly because there was almost no lag.

Played online all weekend on steam and was finding matches in minutes. Only a handful of rounds were laggy..

Overall the online experience in this game is buttery smooth... much better than SF4 was early on. Anyone who says the online is broken in this game has not played and is trolling... or getting their news from trolls.

EDIT: The only problem I frequently encounter on steam version is the player profile info at the versus screen gets dashed out. You cant tell their win streak or lp... and you can only see what league they are in once the fight screen loads.

I can see how keyboard could be good for a fighter. So many keys available has to present a big advantage, try playing a PVP RTS with a mouse while the other player is using key binds. However I could see key binds and macros being seen as cheating by players using controllers or fight sticks. My keyboard for example has 12 dedicated macro keys and I can pretty much set up any key to carryout any action in any game.

Press a single key and get a hyper mega super combo of death, yeah, can't see that going down too well with the controller players.

Combos should be a big part of any fighting games ... all fighting games have timing .... that is why it too boring to watch it in action.

1. You must of bought this game today or last night because the online was pretty atrocious at launch.

2. I agree...lol

3. I actually have a problem with the keyboard. I cannot remap the buttons. It's not supported.

4. This game is all about normal's and frame advantage.(standing jabs and strong's).

My recommendation is to wait until next month for more content and even more improved net play.

If you want to play sometime add TotteryManx on Steam ;p

you beating PS4 players...with a keyboard?

lol you must be playing that absolute lowest tier of players you can find, you aren't going to be kicking many PS4 playes butts with keyboard because even with a controller you'd probably still be owned.

Good to hear you're enjoying the game but lul at the keyboard nonsense.

I'll admit, the lowest I'll go with a fighting game is a Sega Saturn usb pad. Other than that, it's fight stick or bust. I consider controllers just garbage for this genre in general.

That said though, a keyboard is no worse than a controller for these games, it's probably better tbh.

Most importantly though? The input method does not make the player. Plenty of people buy great fight sticks and still suck. On the flip side, you have a dude like BrolyLegs who destroys people using a 360 pad with his mouth.

-

As for the PC vs. PS4 player skill levels, really dudes. Unless you're a pro, among the top players out there, you're going to be running into the same level of player on either platform. I played the **** out of SF4 on both PS3 and PC, never noticed a difference.

I would never do it myself, but think about it like this.

Using a keyboard gets you far closer to an arcade button layout than a pad ever will. Even the absolute best pad for fighting games (the Sega Saturn pad) still requires you to move your thumb all over the place. Anything that requires 3 buttons at a time is a fucking drag, even if mapped to the shoulders. At least on a keyboard you can hover over all buttons, as it should be.

My biggest point of contention would be the player movement/direction inputs. Sure you'd get some precision, but those are some finger gymnastics that I'm not up to dealing with. Still though, is it any worse than a controller? Probably not.

Still though, stick or bust. If you're really into this genre and want to get the most out of it, might as well invest in the right tool.

I refuse to pay for this game as it severely lacks SP content. Especially compared to Namco, Team Ninja, Neatherrelm. I'm not going to buy into Capcom's half baked game like I did with Marvel Vs. Capcom back when. I'll will patiently wait for more content to be released and then buy it.

But no one should be surprised, Capcom is the KING of milking fighting games and releasing half baked games. I will buy any MK or DOA game on console before a Capcom fighter (I say this as both MKX and DOA5:LR were shafted on PC. So I will stick to fighters on console. But still, Capcom takes the cake for laziest developer out there. Making people wait to even watch matches, it's MvC3 all over again. Barebones fighters being released. Then to only say those features are in the super/ultra or whatever edition.

Team Ninja and Namco, release DOA6 and Soul Calibur 6 as a complete package and win votes. SHOVE it to Capcom.

I used to play FIFA with keyboard. Still, 720 degree motions are impossible on keyboard. Street Fighter 4 was able to display keyboard binds. It works amazing on keyboard - WASD for movement, numpads 1-6 for kicks and punches, num Enter for all 3 punches, num + for all three kicks, space for start. Voila! I couldn't make myself play it on a gamepad (arcade stick is cool, but not everyone has those). I've managed to hit 360 motion with zangief as it's not really a full circle but 270 degrees, so you pretty much roll A-S-D-W then hit punch/kick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bydlMlbqy7M The guy is unstoppable beast with mouse and keyboard. Controller can't give freedom like this in Batman Arkham if you know to always use the most optimal control scheme available on M&K.

Possibly. I really have no idea tbh. I just assumed the top guys would be on PS4 since these games are more popular and have more of a history on consoles.

But it's just that, an assumption, I really have no clue.

Gonna wait till June or July, and once they've got all the modes and content in, I'm definitely snagging this baby.

Street Fighter V is a great game when Servers aren't crapping out on you.

I don't think anyone actually denies. The only bad thing people give Street Fighter V for is that it's not the full game yet which won't even be an issue when all the promised content comes out.

Street Fighter IV wasn't Ultra when it first came out.

I switched from ps4 to pc, The PC version is a beauty. Only thing I miss is the DS4 (currently using x1 controller)

I know Joy2Key binds the Sega Saturn controller just fine for this game. Might work for the DS4.

Input Mapper is usually a no fuss solution for using a DS4 though. That's what I use for most of my PC games that I use a controller with. Just start up Input Mapper, plug in your DS4, and you're good to go, no binding required. I haven't tried it with SFV, but it works for everything else.

you beating PS4 players...with a keyboard?

lol you must be playing that absolute lowest tier of players you can find, you aren't going to be kicking many PS4 playes butts with keyboard because even with a controller you'd probably still be owned.

Good to hear you're enjoying the game but lul at the keyboard nonsense.

It's good to see people like the better version I might have to pick this up for PC, but can you explain logistically and physically why keyboard would be bad for SFV? It seems people are actually doing very good with it.

Oh and it appears PC players make up the top 10 now!
